tri shoes are great, but as the temp outside gets colder they allow too much air to get in and make my feet cold. There is no reason why you cant use them all the time though with proper feet warmers.

I have one pair of Specialized MTB shoes that I use on my road and MTB, training or racing.

I'm on my second pair of Specialized MTB shoes, wife just put her 97 specialized MTB shoes to rest. I wear mine on my Jamis hardtail, Cannondale R1000, and my Cervelo Dual.

Speicialized Trivent for tri training rides and events if for no other reason than they look awesome.

I actually used them for some regular road rides this summer, which was nice since it was so stinking hot. However, the slightest chill and my toes freeze in them, and booties mean no one can see how cool they look. So, I put on some regular road shoes and ride.

OK, for a non-technical and newbie question. I have big (wide) feet and can't even get into a bike show for a size 13 foot. I was trying to look into some MTB shoes. Is that really going to make a difference to me when riding? Will I need to buy a special spacer or anything to make the clipless be out far enough so the insides of my feet won't rub?

I know Sidi shoes come in wide (think they call them mega) sizes. Don't know if you've tried them yet.
