There may not be laws requiring you to clip out but theres laws about you being next to me at a light. You put yourself there not me. your supposed to be in fron or in back but not to the side.

Touch my car and you'll find me drifting to the side just enough to let you know its not a wise move.

Well, since you live in Florida, there isn't necessarily a law prohibiting a cyclist from being next to you at a light.

And here I thought cyclists knew the law better than drivers ;)

Source: http://www.dot.state.fl.us/Safety/ped_bike/laws/ped_bike_bikeLaws2.htm

When overtaking on the right is permitted
(Section 316.084, F.S.)

Overtaking on the right is permitted upon a street or highway with unobstructed pavement, not occupied by parked vehicles, of sufficient width for two or more lines of moving traffic in each direction. The driver of a vehicle may overtake and pass another vehicle on the right only under conditions permitting such movement in safety.

Comment: A cyclist traveling in a bicycle lane, or in a lane wide enough for motor vehicles and bicycles to travel side by side within the lane, may pass motorists on the right, because there is sufficient width in this case for two lines of traffic - motor vehicles and bicycles. However, the cyclist should proceed with care. Cars or trucks may turn right at driveways, or at the next intersection, or a car door may open; drivers may not have noticed the cyclist.

Says the hypersensitive moron who hides his insults in white text...

Can I borrow you for a sociology paper?

What's up with your quoting? You again missed the meat taking only a portion of the text. The real message preceded what you quoted, since you didn't realize what I initially posted was tongue-in-cheek sarcasm. It even reads that way without smileys you know :D

The portion my anonymous friend left out reads "You suck, I'm just baiting you" :) it doesn't get much more clear.

sorry I mean to answer your question too.

Absolutely you can utilize anything I've written, be it contradictory, convoluted, condescending, condiments, condoms or conundrums of cod with copious coinage.

Being as it's context is a public forum where most choose anonymity, well, your imaginary sociology professor could tell you it's significance I hope, if the prof can't what hope have I?

Yes, yes. You're a Master Baiter, all right. I get it.

It's a personal space
A car is not a personal space. Can't believe how much in love some of you people are with a machine. I don't lean on cars not because i am afraid to scratch them, but because i am afraid of bums like you who will take that gesture as assault.

There are a lot more "bums like me" than there are full-time cyclists, ya know.

At least I'm aware of what car owners think, unlike many of the the blinker-wearing cyclists here.

A car is not your property to lean on regardless of how the owner views it. And it's pretty stupid to lean on a vehicle that can go into motion at any time.

+ 1

bike or car, one should most definitely NOT touch what does not belong to them....did'nt your mothers teach you to respect other persons property? you dont see me driving by your bicycle and grabbing on and drafting, or leaning on your bike at the stoplight. Don't lean on my truck or skitch a ride either.

There, mutual respect, i get to arrive at work in my nice work truck, you get to cycle to wherever on your nice bike. Mutual respect and considerations for others. Now maybe on the weekend i'm on my bike and your on your way to the inlaws with a car full of chilluns, We both meet at a red light. I respect you and your property by not leaning on your car....mutual respect again...

ah one can dream cant they, reality is none of us respect our fellow man.

+1.

It's a pretty stupid move, especially if the motorist throws it into reverse at a traffic light. (Like that's going to happen.)

It's a commercial, folks. Not reality.

I've never seen a cyclist lean on a car in the front. I've seen it in the back, but the motorist was never so stupid as to risk a lawsuit by reversing in traffic. How you gonna 'splain that in court, Lucy?

Let's move forward, this is pure fantasy. It's a joke, remember?
