I found on this site in the past a lighting system that was powered by magnets spinning on the spokes. They weren't the brightest lights, just enough to be seen. And the new model held a small charge so even when stopped the lights stayed on. Anyone remember the link to these? I thought it was Europe.

Im a bit skeptical about how bright they are. Theres not a single picture of one in use on the website.
there have been others as well
one downside is, the pull as the magnet goes by the coil can cause
spokes to vibrate and loosen over time. need locktite on spokes
A friend has one of them on the rear of his bike. If I get in exactly the right spot I can glimpse the LED's flashing during the day. At night they are visible but a motor vehicle headlight will wash them out so all you see is the reflector. You're better off purchasing 2 AAA batteries every 6 months or so for a "real" blinkie that can be seen day and night.
