Mountain Biking - What's the one thing you need to know about mountain biking?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. If you were going to tell someone who was going to start mountain biking (not me) just one thing, what would it be? What would be the most important advice you could impart?

Mine would be "Use bugspray"

When descending, try your best to keep your pedals/cranks at the 9 o'clock (left) and 10 o'clock (right) positions.

I can do 9 and 3 together and 10 and 4 together.

How do you do 9 and 10 together?

Ignore Zumba. He's been thinking he's Pete lately, only he has no idea what he's talking about.

i would teach them to lift there front wheel, because the rear wheel will follow. Therefore they will be able to get over anything they will find on a beginner trail.

Calculate the H-factor of your bike. This is your weight in pounds divided by the bike cost in dollars. If it's over 2.5, you should not even hop it off a curb.

Well, since I ride faster than the speed-of-bug, my advice would be:

If you don't fall, you're not riding hard enough.

I am terrified of ticks. No big deal, I know, but they scare me to death.

I wasn't riding. I was walking around looking for wild dogs in an old land fill (12 gauge in hand). The grass there was 3 feet tall or so.
