Introductions - Greetings from Providence, Rhode Island
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm a roadie/bike commuter. I do a 16 mile trip from Providence to Woonsocket most days (and then back again). My current ride is a Cannondale R700 but I'll soon be purchasing a cyclocross bike. I'm thinking of a Fuji Cross Comp or possibly a Kona Jake the Snake. I want to use it for commuting, off roading, maybe even some racing. One of these days I may even get a MTB. Who knows?

Hello Kirk, both of your cyclocross choices are pretty good, but it's just so much fun to say "Jake the Snake" :D .
Welcome to BF!

I finally got my bike. I got a good deal on an '06 Bianchi Axis. It's making for a fast yet steady and reliable commuter. You can see it on the Commuting forum:

Very nice! Do you use a messenger bag or backpack? I don't see any panniers on the bike yet.

Thanks! I use a messenger bag with laptop sleeve. For now, it's all I need. I keep a supply of clothes, towels, shampoo, etc. at the office and carry my lunch.

You are lucky to be able to do so!
If you ever do need panniers, though, I know the Commuting forum folks will be happy to offer advice on the best ones!
