Classic & Vintage - Need info on Motobecane Grand Record

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I stopped at my brothers house to tune my Bianchi and he produced a wicked old ass Motobecane Grand Record...a yard sale find like my Bianchi Squadra.
It's a yellow frame Grand Record with black joints (where the tubes come together) and looks hand assembled/ brazed(?) Stronglight 3-piece crank, headset, and I think brakes...not sure about the brakes though.
It has the Campy Nuovo Record gruppo with a double up front and a 5 gear cassette.
I'l try to post some pics in the next day or so.
Basically, what's this thing about, worth, etc???

There's a thread just below that I started that features Moto GRs.
Yours sounds like a mid to late 1970s version with the painted lugs and Campy. Look on the seattube for a tubing decal. If it's the age I think it is it should be Reynolds 531. The rest might be in French but you should be able to recognize it right off.
I've watched a number of Reynolds framed Moto GRs sell on eBay. They seem to go in the low to mid $300 range.
(Why does EVERYONE find one except me?)
Very nice bike. What size?
Post some pics.
I took a look and sure enough, what's left of that sticker says Reynolds 531. The paint is not too bad except it's cracking although not through the paint, just makes it look old.
It's in good shape but needs a little love, etc. Don't they all?
I'll try for pix but my cpu is being dumb and won't let me resize so I can't post right now, maybe in a day or so.
It's about a 59 cm frame, depending on exactly where they measure this bike... it's for sale if you want it...

25 bucks
I disagree with Walters assessment of the value.
These are dime a dozen bikes, not much better than
a wallymart special, in fact I believe that Huffy leCheapo
special was a better made, more expensive bike.
and that Nuovo Record gruppo isn't worth the brass its
made of, heck I've seen them going for less than $100 on
E-buy and that was NOS.
Besides its friction shifting and only has 5 cog freewheel.
Just my .02 worth
(Walter, is that good enough? you can send check to me
c/o Bike forums) :D
Nice find by the way.

Marty, I appreciate the effort.:)
Still don't know why I can't fine one.
PJ, 59 is a little tall for me but is a "saleable" size. If you're committed to selling, clean it up as well as you can but don't repaint or replace anything (exc. cables/tubes/etc.) It'll do OK on eBay for you.
