well here is my new frameset that I'll be building up soon, courtesy of Rippin.

I got some ridiculously good deals on Performance yesterday - they had a Shimano sale, and on top of that I had a 20% off coupon - I ended up getting all my stuff brand new for cheaper than I could get it USED on ebay!!

Show us posts day by day as you build it up. It may get me excited and want to build my own. Is the frame new? and have you built bikes from the ground up before?

This is my first time building up from the ground. I won't be doing it myself, but I will be enlisting the help of a good friend, who has alot of experience with bike building.

This frame is not new, but it is very low miles in almost new condition. I believe it's a 99, purchased new in 2001. It's not QR's sexiest frameset (no aero tubes), but still I got a great deal.

Believe it or not, I did all my math and figured that I will be able to build this up for $800 TOTAL, with brand new ultegra gruppo, LOOK pedals, and cyclocomputer!!

$800! I'm impressed.

Looking forward to watching the progression.

here's the build kit i've been collecting.... i'm about 80% done

all that's left is aerobars, my friend's ultegra calipers, and a bottom bracket.

and a BG saddle...they are quality

Im using a Trainer and I want to know what is your experience with that Roller, easy to ride, works fine?.

Rollers take a bit getting used to but once you ride on them a few times they are great, but as with any indoor riding it can get boring :)

That is a beautiful frame, I really like that frame has a elegant beauty to it :)

Haha..nice to see it built up!!....I hope you get good use out of her. Seeing my first Tri frameset again brings back good memories. Still one of the classiest tri-frames out there - black beauty with the armadillo logo!

How many $$ do you have in it now? Still around $800?

i had to pay $50 for new chainrings, $10 for the headset compressor, and $20 for cables/housing and bar tape - so prolly around $900

Hope to have this on the road in a few days...

Here is my bike, but my God, That Hed frame is Awesome. This is my Trek 1000. It's got all of the standard parts except the Century Aero bars. I'd like suggestions of what to upgrade next.

After seeing the nice Softride and remembering I had a frame picture I could post, thought I'd throw it out and bring back the bike thread. This is the second bike I've owned that was custom made but not for me, I still hope there is a little more TLC involved in putting my bikes together.
Frame was made about 4(2001) years ago, raced for 2(2001 & 2002) seasons, and now I own it. Going to outfit it with a bunch of Shimano 600(got them all very cheap) from the last year it was made and switch over parts from my road bike(upgrading to a full Ultegra) until it's a 9 speed and using Vision tech base and aerobars. Just haven't settled on wheels, I might just train on this over the winter with my roadies wheels and get new wheels come spring time, when I have more money.

I ride a 2003 Softride Rocket R1. I went in for a bike fit (http://www.wobblenaught.com/). They measured all my joints, plugged them into a computer and set my bike up with a laser. Felt nice first try. We fit the bike at a 76 degree, I think. It is halfway between relaxed/road fit and TT. TT/aero is typically between 76 and 81 degrees. I have my stem set as low as it will go on this frame.

I have an extra tube, levers and co2 taped (electrical tape) under the seat to the beam. Selle Italia SLR saddle, Profile CarbonX aero wing with AeroDrink, Ultegra, Speedplay X2 pedals, Mavic Cosmos wheelset.

Someday, I would like to upgrade the wheel set to Zipp Z4 (http://www.zipp.com/multisport/wheelsets/zseries/z4.html) or Nimble (http://www.nimble.net/) Crosswinds (http://www.nimble.net/crosswind.html) and maybe go DuraAce.
