I'm an American looking to move to Belgium. Does anyone know of a Belgian equivalent to craigslist? Finding housing is difficult without some sort of classified ads. Any advice on finding a club to ride for? Ideally I would like to find a host family for the first month, any ideas? Any experience with this sort of thing? Thanks

For housing, try http://www.immoweb.be
For other stuff, http://www.kapaza.be or http://www.ebay.be

There are many bike clubs in Belgium. Best is to ask at some of the local bike shops.

Not sure about host families - can't think of an organization that might arrange these although I'm positive they exist.

Long night, just noticed this thread. Don't know where you are with it.

There is a Craigs List in Brussels, but the culture here is different, so things function differently. You could do worse than look at http://xpats.com/, it could help get you started.

Maybe try and find a furnished, short-term studio or whatever through the above, and go from there.

There's a big English-speaking community in/around Brussels (for obvious reasons). Whether or not you want to be part of it is another story.

Finally, don't presume that the laws or customs are the same. Minimum rental period is 3 years, but you can't rent anything without some kind of Belgian residency. In theory.
