I was able to shave another 30 seconds off my latest TT race! I got Syntace C2s for my birthday last week and luckily got accustomed enough to use them tonight.

Sure I may have gotten stronger, recovered better or the wind was slightly different--but I gotta attribute some of that improvement to the bars.

It's funny though. I'm getting faster but I'll still never be able to touch the first place woman's time.

Maybe next year.

Maybe all in your head! i became much faster after upgrading pedals and shoes. IF its not in your head let me know i have been contemplating them, i just hate the idea of those things sticking out so far. I was looking at these: Cinelli1 (http://www.cinelli.it/eng/bici/estensioni/index.html) or these SPINACISSIMI (http://www.cinelli.it/eng/bici/estensioni/SPINACISSIMI.html)

Thanks Ross, looks like I am gonna make the podium but mostly because the fastest women didn't race the entire series. Oh, well. You gotta take it where you can get it. ;)

djbowen, It could be all in my head for sure. But I'd say they sure didn't 'hurt' my performance. I was able to relax my upper body more and I could swear I didn't hear as much turbulence around me. I too was someone fairly opposed to sticking something extra on my bike and adding weight and I thought it would take forever to get used to them. I was even looking at the exact ones you listed. But since they were a gift I was oblidged to try the Syntaces. Only took a couple of rides to get accustomed enough to race in. I say give 'em a shot--if you don't like them take them back.:beer:

djbowen,

Those don't look so hot, there is no pad for your arm. And you don't want to try and hold yourself up in an aero position like that.

You may also want to check out the;

Profile Jammer GT (http://www.profile-design.com/jammerGT.html)

Oval Concepts Slam (http://www.ovalconcepts.com/aeroBar.html) (these are almost identical to the Jammer GT bar, but with a different arm pad style)

Both of these are nice in that you don't get to stretched out.

Also check out;
Syntace C2 (http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?sku=3194) (link to product on Nashbar since the Syntace website isn't ready in English yet) - Most people have good luck buying one size smaller than recommended for on their road bikes.

Have fun.

Andrew

Thanks Bac! Good point about Fignon. Poor guy's always going to be known for that loss to Lemond.

djbowen, My brother has a pair of these Deda's and swears by them. Seems to be a lot less metal being used.
