Well, because it took so long to get the grips off of my bike, I decided to put some grease in them to make them slide on easily. BIG MISTAKE! They went on perfectly, but now they slide all over the place! Grease isn't something that is easy to wash off because it is designed to repel water, so I was wondering if there was a prodict that would degrease an object. Anyone know of one? I have tried using 409 and such, kitchen degreasers in the past and they have not worked.
Try a citrus degreaser or something like Simple Green.

i feel like i have been baited as part of a bad joke, here goes anway: Simple Green, or maybe dish detergent is grease cutting isnt it, grase is a horrible no no. It reminds of when i get into my friends giant ass ford excursion and he has armor-all all over them so they look shiny. Anyway you may be better off with new grips because by the time you get the grease out they will most likely never be the same. Grease? Why? Why? Why?

I know of someone who applied Armor All to their expensive saddle.

I dispise that stuff, it is gross.
Armor All is like the Genesis Device from the movie Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. It goes in and displaces everything in favour of itself. And it's unstable. If you don't keep applying Armor All the surface will become brittle and crack... definately nasty stuff.

To get grips on use hairspray or methylated spirits - they allow the grips to slide on and then the substance evaporates.......i prefer hairspray because I found that Meths evaporates TOO quick etc etc just go for hairspray I think. Just spray it on the inside of the grip.

I found that Hi-tack (for gluing gaskets onto car engines, comes in a spray bottle at the auto parts store) works really well for grips. I was replacing the grips on my bike while my wife was out running errands, and I couldn't find her hairspray. I was out in the garage looking at my shelf of spray bottles, when I saw a can of this stuff and figured why not? The stuff makes the grips slide on like nothing, and dries into a thin pliable glue. Your grips won't come off without a lot of work if you use this, but they won't move around unintentionally either. I love this stuff.

Yup, hairspray rules for putting on grips. It goes on wet and then dries nicely.
