My ride report starts off like this: THESE GUYS WERE KILLING ME!

There is talk about organizing more mtb rides for the forum people. We need some newbs cause these guys are strong fast mtb'ers. I need someone to cruise along the trail with me. Guys that showed up are all strong mtb'ers. I think I did ok for riding that course for the first time. The single track on the edge of Southridge was a bit scary for me as I've never been on single track or that section for the ride. At one point I thought I was going to fall over and roll down the hill. I thought I was a goner but hmmm, maybe it was Chimivee. He pulled along side of me and pulled me back onto the trail with one hand. OK, not really! At one point I did jump off my bike on an unexpected sharp turn. Then on the downhill sections I just dropped behind everybody so that I could watch and learn. I almost ate it a couple of times so I'd slow to recover control. Just then Drew would blow by me at a high speed. I had 28.5 max but I think his was maybe thirtysumthin'. A lil too scary for me. Maybe when I'm more familiar with the trail.

Parking sit was bad today. I arrived 45 minutes early and took one of the last available spaces, thanx to a track meet. Octico and his wife Kristine was there but because of the parking, stopped off on the side of the road only long enought to say they would pass on the ride. They had camping equipment and could not park outside the park securely. All the riders showed up near 10. One hour after the scheduled time but I knew that they'd be parked all over Brea with the parking situation.

Nice to meet new friends. Efficiency, Summoner. Nice guys and I really liked Efficiency's sense of humor.. He laughed at all my stupid jokes!:D Then meeting old friends again, Chimivee, Actel and Drew. MTBLurker had his own gang out there, Ed, Greg, Teri and Loni. I guess we weren't sexy enough for Ed so he wanted to ride with the girls. Girls that were kickin' azz mind you!:p

All in all was a nice ride with strong riders. That's cool, I learned something today. But sure would be nice to get a few of the others out there. Would be nice to ride and chat instead of listening to the sound of my heart trying to rip thru my chest the entire ride!:D

And if there is interest in a real beginner ride, no hammerhead stuff, please let me know and I will organize one. Most likely I'll try to set up riding through Peter's Canyon over to Irvine Park, a route very newbie friendly and easy for an old, tired lady like me.

Glad I had so much to do today... I definitely would have held everyone back today!

The boys were talking about organizing more mtb forum rides. Organize one Pam! The boys also said maybe 3 weeks ought to be plenty of notice to attract more riders.

And no, you wouldn't have held everyone back today. I would have been more than plenty happy to stay with you. I was counting on it as I did an mtb ride yesterday. Ohhh the legs were fryin' today!:o

I like laughing. James has mad bike handling skeelz speeding downhill on his 'cross bike. And speeding uphill. And speeding on flat land. Good ride all and all. Good to meet the people I didn't meet before.

That straight mostly downhill fireroad was fun and crazy fast.

I was a lil upset this morning, cam into work at 8 and was out by 8:30.......if the start time was 10, I could have made it ARGGGG. Oh well, next time I guess.

Glad you all had fun today, I'm sure there was alot of grip on the dirt with the rain last week. I love riding MTB after it rains.

(I posted this in the original thread.. guess that one is dead and I didn't notice this one)

That was a great ride! Nice to meet some new faces and see some faces I have already met. Hope to do it again!

Who is down for a night ride? haha:D

Drew, thanks again for the lift! So everyone knows why Drew was late, it was my fault. I left my riding shoes and camelbak in my GF's car... she was at work, we had to back track in order to swing by and grab my things. sorry!:o

Oh and it wasn't a hammerfest. Although I did have some trouble keeping up on some hills... but im just a slow climber. PLUS my bike needs a MAJOR tune-up!

I hit 37mph on those down hills with a total of 13.37 miles.

Drew, thanks for organizing this ride.
The ride was great and I had a good time today doing my first MTB in 6 months. The trail was great, very well packed and very few people.
It was nice to meet Efficiency, Summoner and Chimivee and good to see Mr. Beanz and Drew again today.
Parking was a bit of a problem today at Carbon Canyon Park and I ended up parking at Rose & Vesuvius Dr.
