Road Bike Racing - New steed...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
So, the TCR that I raced on this season was hit, with me on it, by a car some months ago. The rear wheel, saddle, and right wrist were totalled. The frame had a minor crack. On Friday I turned the bike in for a check equal to retail value.
I've got radar lock on an R3-SL, and I've been scrounging for parts, as the frame will nearly blow my wad. So far I have a DA RD, elite wheels, saddle, and a post from my old bike. I picked up DA brifters, DA FD, and FSA SLK cranks on eBay. F*ck brakes.
What stem/bar combo would you recommend?
P.S. I've been unable to ride for a week, and probably won't ride again for another 3. I'm suicidal.

ritchey wcs 4axis to a deda newton shallow works well for me. pretty cheap. the newton bars are heavy compared to others, but i really like them.

Umm...why did you turn in the old bike? You should be able to pull working parts off of the old bike (for brakes and what not). I have never heard of anyone having to relinquish their trashed bike to an insurance company in order for them to cut a check.
As for Bar/stem, sure, go with the above suggestions.
Welp, the way it was explained to me, it was just like a salvaged car. She gave me a check for retail value, but I had to relinquish the bike. Thankfully, I had some old wheels and and an old FD to switch for my wheels and FD.

+1 no-nonsense, good feel, good looking, says "Ritchey" on it...
If you don't mind me going off topic for a second, what model TCR where you racing? (Advanced?) Did you like it?

'F brakes?'
'F brakes?'
Joke.
WR - Kind of leaning that way. Thanks for the input.
I was riding/racing a TCR C1. Really comfortable carbon bike. The bike is a terrific value with a top shelf build. It seems to me that it makes a good bike to start racing on. It's not too aggressive, or twitchy, but it doesn't feel "disconnected" either. So much depends on your wheelset though, in my limited opinion. I think the bike would have handled a little better with a 110mm stem. I had a 90. Botto, if I'm not mistaken, rides a C0, and a couple of other guys ride the Advanced frames.

Your going to put elites on an r3-sl, thats a complete waste. unless you are getting the sl for dirt cheap.
Joke.

Do you know how absurd that statement is? Wheels are round. They roll. Sheesh.

Okay, so buy a set of 2200 gram clinchers and go ride.

Welp, I don't know about dirt cheap, but it's the only place in the country I could find that would discount the frame. I think the stock DA bike on Cervelo's website is equipped with Easton Circuits. I agree that Elites aren't the best, but wouldn't you agree that Elites are better than those wheels?

When I finally get a new bike or new wheels, I will feel like I am on a rocket ship...

believe it or not, there are people who actually have speed without buying it.

lol, ask the guys at the last Thursday night crit...
why get the SL? $700 for 70-80 g?
Use the money saved on an R3 and get better wheels.

mein Gott,
DocRay is right!
I'm getting the SL for $300 more, and it was that other guy who had a problem with the wheels, not me.
