Tonight I picked up 2 bikes for $25 each from my next door neighbor's garage sale.

The first is a Japanese 70's bike boom knock-off called a Campania Sport. Nice name. I wonder what name they were going for? It is kind of like my Korean Rolex; heavy, but in good shape and functional. My 14 year old will lug it up and down the hills of NW MO.

The second is a Raleigh Aluminum Technium 440 in great shape. It looks like it will be a nice upgrade from my old Schwinn Woodlands MTB.

Happiness is a good cheap bike. Anyone have any advice on either of these models?

I should tell you that a suggestion to send them to the metal recycling plant is not welcome. ;)

Whats to say other than congrats and carefully check the cables for rust and
broken strands. Best way is to pull the cables completely out of the housings and look at them, replace any with rust or broken strands. Broken der cable is obnoxious, broken brake cable is potential crash. General clean up and lube is probably in order and if you are industrious a complete take down and rebuild with lube, clean and adjust. This has probably never been done on these bikes before. Steve

I personally have a Raleigh Aluminum Technium 450 (late 1980's) and it has served me well. Like others I recommend you thoroughly check out the cables, chains, wheels, etc.

Great find!!

The one I have is newer, bigger tubing and has better derailiers. Oh, and it is blue.
