Bontrager Race Lites. Lee sold them to me at a steal and then delivered them to me to boot (I sure like them Texans...and that one in particular :D). Thing is, I'm so damn dumb sometimes, I actually have had them a few months. Why I didn't put them on before now, I just don't know. My lbs laughed at me and shook their heads. They told me that this wheelset is at least two upgrades from the stock set I had.
And you let them laugh at you??? You didn't slap them for laughing at you?

Tried on specialized shoes today. Not impressed with the women's at all, and I found out that specialized do not offer heel replacements, only Sidi. That sucks. I think I'm going to stick with what has worked for me and get Shimanoes, only not all carbon, just carbon soles.

That's a bummer. There is nothing worse than having hurty feet, so stay with what works, even if they aren't as cool as SIDI's :D

Well, Heddy, I wish I could get Sidi's, but I have duck feet, darling. I do not have dainty, arched feminine feet. The arch in the Sidi was hurting me when I just tried it on! Imagine if I rode 200 miles in a pair of those? :o

41's, but regardless, it's the arch in the shoe, John. I can't wear them. Thanks, though. :)

Chucking down Endurox right now. Trying the chocolate flavor. It taste like real choco milk and much better than vanilla flavor. Good - tastes better, less than half the cholesterol than Vanilla; bad - more sugar.

Have you considered getting some insoles for the shoes (assuming you can get the shoes for cheap). The arch on my Sidi isn't that noticeable compared to other shoes that I have, so I imagine it's easy to just add/replace it.

Ever try Carnac? Not sure about now, but in the past, most of the time when someone went to Carnac was with feet issues.

The Sidi's as most riding shoes are basically flat. You must add arch supports in needed. Specialized makes some good ones. Oh and the mega's are quite comfortable with the specialized insoles.

Doing great. Work has been very busy, remodeling the shop and riding when I can. Most of my rides have been with the team so its fast paced hammerfests.

+1. I would caution anyone not to eliminate any model of shoe without trying them on with your preferred insole. Night and day difference.

Pretty good...still trying to drop that last 20 lbs...did Lighthouse a week ago...wow...awesome ride..
Actually I am back up in Cambria right now...it is even nicer weather here today than last week...
Wow...team stuff...thats awesome...are you going to race? Crits,RR Track..all the above?

I have to agree... my Sidi's were jsut ok...until I add inserts...Superfeet in my case..but I am interested in trying the specialized..I guess they they must have a foot-o-meter...sort of like the butt-o-meter for saddle fit...
The problem I see for ME is unless she buys them there is no real way to know for sure..unless you get the inserts first...
You can also have a podiatrist make a custom footbed..but thats $$$

Sean, and I mean this with no attitude :), but the all-carbon female Sidi's that I tried on were most certainly NOT flat. They hurt. :(

Actually they do have a arch-o-meter to determine which supports you need. Actually they told me that there is little to no arch support in the shoes. The shoes themselves may be arched, but not an arch support.

Whatever was in between the ball of my foot and the heel and felt like a rod was what hurt. The shoe may be flat, but there is something in it that I felt.
Now...any advice on racquets? :p
^^^Now that sounds a little like plantar fasciitis. A podiatrist evaluation as implied by herbm would be beneficial for you. Besides, custom footbeds would be cheaper than the whole tennis thing.
My 2 cents.

Perhaps trying them on with the appropriate arch supports would make a difference. Worth a try. I have the Sidi 5's, no need for the carbon.;)

I use the Specialized insoles in my Sidi's. I rode for years without them. Then I tried them and always ride with them now. Made a huge difference, not to mention much more comfortable. Specialized has the arch o meter.

Did you do the full century or the metric.....allot of climbing too huh?
jsigone
10-08-07, 12:03 AM
we did the full century at pretty much the pace we ride normally which didn't help around mile 80 when it all caught up. Was only about 4k ft of climbing but felt like more. I still feel outa shape though, wish I had some more miles under my belt before today, but we cramed as much miles as we can in the past few weeks. Next time we need to have a cooler in the truck with some beers in there.

dude how was Jamul out there with those winds that came in today?
there were some 25+ mph head winds....made for a long ride and some rough climbing....in the 2-3%grades with a 25 wind i was averaging like 7-8mph....parts of it really sucked...and the descents were interesting getting tossed around...
GOOD TIMES!!
i'll be the chase truck with the beer next year for the TDP!!:D

sheesh that like riding into a wall!!!!!!
Next yr we're not doing the full century, we'll just hammerhead the metric and be done with.

I was thinking the other day, and maybe a few of you might agree with me. I think the TDF should be altered for next year. Only one rule: The bike must be a single speed beach cruiser, bone stock. Tell that wouldn't be totally freakin' awsome! Huh, huh, anyone...eh? Or not.

How about this? No transports from one stage to the other ... the finish line of one stage will be the start line of the next stage. So what if there a large body of water that separates the finish line and start line ... that'll make it interesting ... and they have to do it all on a single bike.
