Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

me too...i have two cheap ones and it's basically like riding in the dark...

i leave my house about 545am and it's wicked dark then.

The one I have now is decent, but I outride it at 15mph or so and takes up a bottle cage for the battery.

The one I have now is decent, but I outride it at 15mph or so and takes up a bottle cage for the battery. That's the reason I'm thinking of an extra light. I have the cygo-lite night rover extreme (6W+10W halogen).

I was thinking of theirs until I saw the current 20% off sale at Nashbar. They have the older 120L dinotte w/AA, the 200L w/Li-ion, and a few others. That got me thinking of dinotte; but now I'm leaning towards a 200L w/AA from another site. :p

Dinner at RB was, umm, interesting. J saw me and told me how bored she was, and seeing as I couldn't find a space at the bar right away, she offered me one of her tables. I accepted, of course. She was bored because she was training someone who really didn't need training, so she was just standing around making good money. (Trainers at RB evidently get a higher hourly salary as well as all the tips the trainees earn. Trainees don't make much... J made more from my tip alone than that trainee made in an hour. And that's on top of her hourly pay and the tips from the other tables.) Not much to complain about, admittedly, but in any case, it left her free to just take care of me. And she tells me that this new waitress is great, and that I'll probably like her a lot. Well, seeing as we're down to two letter girls, I can make room for a new favorite.

It's hard to get out on the road at 5 am when you don't even get up till 5:30 am. I guess the fact that I slept at 11:30 PM has something to do with it.

I used to think MTBs were slow... until the Fun Ride. Coach Dan shows up on his Santa Cruz with its funky hybrid race wheels. I was chasing him down PVE at 45.6 MPH!!! Then he outsprinted the rest of us "true roadies" on the 5-mile return trip to the regroup spot. I am humbled. Maybe I will buy a MTB after all! :p:D

i bunny hopped some curbs...went off some stuff.....did a couple of stoplight endos....:D

it's nice not worring about the $2000 CF road bike and just doing what ever you want on the MTB...but man it is sooooo slow.

I used to have slicks on it while i was waiting for my shoulder to heal up....but i will be doing some MTB races also this year for the team so.....the fatties are back on it;)

Coach Dan is just fast. Put him on a plastic big wheel and maybe he might think about slowing down.

I done that once, back when I live in PQ/RB area and rode to work in Esco. I was thinking I'll ride the dirt trails at lake hodges and hoof it up the Del Dios hill to work OMG, it took like another 30 minutes, 2.3 tires are very slow. Good times though.

Man... San Diego B&L Bikes 40% off again! :p

Lucky my preference has switched over to the Argon18 bike line that Joy has posted a little while ago. No new bike purchases for me until I feel I made some nice cycling accomplishments... like riding down Palomar w/o falling or being able to do KOM next year. :)

I've come full circle on powerbars. The first couple I tried, I liked... then I had a Clif Bar and went crazy for those. But now I only like Clif Bars if I'm on a sit-down break. On the bike, I prefer the powerbars, in all their tacky goodness. :) Whole Foods organic fig bars (no hydrogenated oil) are still #1 though.

I just wanted a change in work. I was wondering whether my little talk is a career limiting move because now the boss will think of me differently (disloyal, etc.). I pretty much put myself in the position where I now have to change regardless. In my company though, you do have to give the talk before you do anything. Kind of like chicken and egg.

DaveSANYYZ

I haven't re-taken a liking to powerbars yet. I was only using it as a generic term in my previous post. Don't you find it difficult to peel off the wrapper on warm/hotter day?

On hot days, you are supposed to unwrap them ahead of time and wrap them around your top tube...

I am a Clif Bar/Clif Shot Bloks guy these days while on the bike. Off the bike, anything goes!!! Mmmm Ice Cream

So, you keep these in your shorts, do you? :p

Dave, try dried Mango. It won't melt, is an excellent carb source and you can easily pack about 4-6 strips in ziploc bags and stuff them in your jerseys or up under the legs of your shorts (for easy access). You can find them spicy, which means salted basically, or salt them yourself which makes them an even better fuel source.

I picked that up from one of the gals who rides with Big John. :)

Well, this is why you put them in separate ziploc bags.
