I've been cycling but i've been too lazy to log my miles on bikejournal or routeslip for the last month or two. :(

love your sig bro...too funny

Cute signature pics!

I'm using BJ to log my miles since it's nice to keep track of my riding progress. I normally just do a month-by-month comparison; or comparison against previous rides on the same route.

Crash and I + a few others have coincidentally been logging similar mileage for quite a while. I realized it after a few weeks and find it quite funny since it seems like we were in some sort of a race during those few weeks.

but....i plan on doing about 40-50 per day for the next 2 weeks..I can only manage rides on the weekends, so it's normally just 50-150 miles a week. You'll be ahead for sure!

 Glad i could make ya'll laugh. :)

I just checked and i'm waaaay behind... Only around 1500 miles. I haven't logged anything since my birthday. I'd guess i probably have another 250-300 miles to add at the most.

I really need to get back to doing 40+ mile rides. Other than commuting, i've been sticking to rides right around 20 miles. Other than the triathlon 3 weeks ago, i haven't riden my road bike since building the fixed gear bike. :o

I rode Los Penasquitos Canyon today, with my new brakes. I got my butt kicked for some reason. I was super tired. I did accomplish something though. I think I found the "Tunnel through the trees" trail that I've heard mentioned. However, because of the aforementioned butt kicking, I couldn't ride the whole thing.

How does the orange put her clothes back on?

Tomorrow will be interesting. My first ride in about 3 weeks - since before I got sick. Going to ride from UTC to Carlsbad and back with M tomorrow morning. It's her last long ride before her race next weekend (Soma Half Ironman). I wonder if losing almost 10 lbs will make me any quicker up Torry Pines? Problem is I think most of it was muscle I lost :(

Had a nice family dinner, 11 people. Couldn't remember how many courses the dinner was ... I was done 4 courses before the end. Ah yes, that is what wedding weekends are all about ... feasting!

I just got my butt kicked in a 10 mile ride. I went "The Way Up," "Equine Incline," and "Hodges Overlook" in Elfin Forest. My tech skills are getting better. I got to work on riding switchbacks. I kept riding straight off trail when they came up on the downhill.

Time for beer.

Elfin Forest MTB ride is NICE and good climbing for sure. I rode a 45 mile ride with Crash this morning from La Mesa to Apline I think. Was a good climb up, the bike is comfy and I wish it was a bit longer. I may go on my normal 32 mile training loop a lil later in teh afternoon to kill some time.

New top speed was 50.8mph and it was very stable, was catching up to the group then the down hill ended. It's cool having a computer on the bike again:D

Wet Jockey underwear. That's what happens when you ride to work in civies and on the way home decide to ride up to the observatory for a little workout. I didn't even want spend time posing at the top as I felt so uncomfortable as my brand new Jockey briefs were completely drenched in sweat, I rode over the crest and immediately descended the other side to catch some cool air and back to my home. I just got out of the shower.

You know your house is tiny, when you can vacuum the entire place without ever unplugging the vacuum from the wall.

Well, silly, you didn't need to lose those 8 lbs. But don't be hard on yourself, you were, after all, ill. You climbed it and got a good workout in! Next time up it, you'll be back to your 'ol self. :)

Yah, all adjustments were made after the first couple rides on it. I needed a long ride on it to see if the knees got the OK from the fitting I did and yah it's comfy, I could have road alot longer. There was about 10 guys in the group so we kept a pretty good pace, hills were done solo, rollers were powered through. Fun stuff for sure. Had a tandum dust most of the group up the climb which was interesting enough.

Wifey just left to go to her parents so I'm off for my 32 mile loop up W. Lilac.

I just got my rain/night bike down. My Bianchi Volpe. I have had this bike a number of years and have commuted with it, done a one week tour on it (plus a few long weekend tours), did a couple of double centuries on it, took it for light off road. In other words, I have done everything with this. It has a front hub generator to run the headlight. Today I replaced the rear brake cable and housing, trued the rear wheel, cleaned, and lubed everything. All set for winter, bring it on…..

Yah I'm ready for the winter too, got some new limb warmers and some really nice gloves. But til it comes, I'm going to enjoy this nice weather

And, I should have said in my post, bring on "California" winter.

Had a nice 40 miler with the shop guys today. Did a kinda tour of the Amgen area, Dos Vientos and back through Hidden Valley. Minimal wind and lots of sun.

NWS calls for huge winds by the morning so I guess I can sleep late tomorrow. As of now, it's still lightish here in the Conejo, although it was picking up a bit during our daughter's 5:00 pm soccer game.

I picked up a Selle SLK last week to replace an Alias. So far this one is a winner!

Holy Headwinds!! Just finished Como Street/Dana Point, and it was brutal. Irvine Blvd had 50-60mph gusts of crosswinds  The group detonated and was shatttered within a couple of minutes. I almost turned off a couple of times, in fear of my own safety. I stuck it out and ended up with 70 miles and 153 avg HR. Heading back inland down SART was a cruel way to finish it off.

Looks like it really was a matter of "which way the wind blows" today for those riding. Some got no winds and some were hit hard.

No wind in the tree tunnel. I did clip myself on the trees a couple of times though. That trail is tight. Lycra doesn't hold up well to falling into bushes.

I came in early anticipating winds, and I'm almost tempted to go for another spin. But it's kinda hot now and the air smells bad. Or maybe I'm just used to the ocean air blowing all the bad stuff away. :o

Just got back from B&L in Solana Beach helping M buy a new tri bike (at 40% off!), and it was VERY windy. She was dodging falling palm fronds while trying to do her test ride!!

I just came back from a ride via the SDBC C+ route. Also dropped by B&L in Solana Beach. Was kinda sorta wanna take a look at frames, but fortunately, they're ALL sold out! Yeah!

They still have some Ruby's including an S-Works, 3 medium size Looks, a few Bianchi's including quite a few Ducati versions (all full bikes). It wasn't as much of a bike bling watching event as it used to be though, because quite a lot of their bikes are gone/sold.

The ride was very windy. The only tailwind section was westbound on La Costa (long, flat'ish), pushing a little over 27mph with minor effort. Avg only 13.x mph vs my usual 15.x; though it's also due to other factors.

Took a drive up to Santa Clarita today, and the wind was quite intense in sections. Trees and debris down everywhere. And they were doing air drops of water onto a brush fire near the 5.

Good. Then it wasn't you I saw earlier this PM with a road bike on the shoulder of I-52 in San Clemente Canyon. As I was driving east on the freeway I spotted a cyclist ahead, apparently messing with his rear wheel. As I passed by I thought "Hey, that looks like Dave! He wouldn't be that stupid would he?"

I guess not :D

Cars are too slow on I-52. I prefer I-805/I-5. That's reminds me, one night when driving home (southbound I-805 from Mira Mesa to La Jolla Village), I saw a guy riding on the shoulder with no lights and perhaps no reflectors! That stretch doesn't have any street lights, and so I didn't see him until he's very close by.

The wind was quite bad today, but I think the worse parts were when riding though beach area (getting sand in the eyes) and lose leaves sections (paper cuts).

Dan, have you recovered enough yet to ride?

Trainer riding? I have a spinerval that I can only do 5 minutes of, and a Tacx one of some Euro mountain climb. Let me know if you want to try them.
