As of 4 PM, air in west SFV is even worse than it was this morning.
I'll be taking the short/easy route home.
If you don't need to ride out here, don't.

Ride Tip #2: ALWAYS have your place picked up and the bathroom must be spotless.

2 words: cleaning service.

I don't mind riding in -40F temperatures (that cold without wind chill) but the smoke sucks- I've been staying off the bike.

2 words: cleaning service.Cleaning service is only good if it's easy to differentiate between what is useful and what is not. In my case, I needed to check everything out on the floor to see what is important and what is not. But now that my place is clean, going forward I can use cleaning services! :D

just want to post here...one newbie from san fernando valley,(encino), finally, my friends from palm springs have convinced me to ride, im liking it so far. I sold my CBR 600, and just got a used bike yesterday. So now its all up to me, any tips for a rookie?like how tobuild stamina or biking 101....hopefully when i familiarize myself with my new sport, i can join u guys next time.

welcome to the zoo, don't forget to post a pic of your new rig even if it's used. Just get out there and ride for an hr a day, few days a week, then you should be able to bump up the length and difficulty in your routes. Riding is about having fun, don't stress too much on the numbers right now:D

I generally find if something makes a stack, it's not that important. If it's important, it either makes it to a permanent file location or gets handled immediately. Every time I go through an old stack, everything winds up getting tossed.

True; but mine was in such a mess that important and flyers were all mixed in together.

That reminds me, I kind of lost my PowerTap computer during the cleanup. I need to dig through all the cleaned up piles to find where it is. :p

you make stacks before the cleaning service shows up (pre-clean where you control clutter, which is part of the value) and then the cleaner deals with things like dirt and dust and stuff.

My cleaning lady on day 1 said "I don't do anything about papers", which is exactly what I want. She'll pick up a stack, clean under and around it, and put it back exactly where it was.

When we moved recently we went and got the DirecTV HD service and two of their HD DVRs. Now I'm watching even less tv since I can record it and supposedly watch later, but I never seem to and ultimately end up deleting everything I record.

Maybe I should just read a book.

So i had today off from work to attend jury duty this afternoon. I get to go back on monday because they didn't finish selecting a jury yet. (they don't meet on fridays though so i've gotta work tomorrow) :(

10-26-07, 12:13 AM
Oh man I loved jury duty when I was selected. My company paid for 9 working days. My schedule was arrive at 9:15 AM, leave at 4:30 PM, with 1.5 hours for lunch in the middle of that. After getting off at 4:30 PM, I'd hang around downtown for a little bit for kicks. It was also interesting going through the entire process and rendering a verdict. Very educational.

Today is fitting day for the new bike!! Heading up to Solana Beach at 11am :D

Even though it is my day off, I dragged myself to the Y for a 530am spin class. Even inside the air wasn't that great - I started coughing during a hard interval set :(

And it is VERY foggy where I am in San Diego!! All it seems to be doing is suspending the smoke particles in minature water droplets :( Fortunately it seems to be just along the coast in coastal canyons. It was gone once I reached Kearny Mesa.

morning is good and clear up here, last few days the afternoon winds change it up though. I'll see how it does today though. The upper section of that loop I took you on is closed due to the fallbrooke fire. Might still be able to get in 60+ though, I'll have to plan out a route later on. I'm going to see if my buddy can ride too.

lunch ride was planned to go up 395, but looking north I saw alot of smoke from the palomar fire, pointed the bike down Del Dios to Via Rancho and was nice and clear, did a loop around by North County Fair and back to work. Del Dios is still mostly closed to traffic. lots of cops blocking the road. Northern side of Hodges looks burned pretty good. Some of the singletracks I ride on are toasted.

What's the matter, Jeff. :( I know the fires have to be really wearing on you SD folks. The air here sucks - I can't imagine there. But give it a couple of months, and I suspect some of the areas rumored to be completely ruined will not be as bad as imagined. We need the smoke to clear and things to settle down for sure.

At least the fax machine is.

yes

Thanks. My sister's house is still there. The red line on the fire perimeter map made it look like the house was inside the burn area but when my BIL went to scout it out, he saw no signs of fire at all.

They're packing up the motor home and heading back this afternoon. Besides the uncertainty, it wasn't too bad for them They parked in one of the beach parking lots and we sat outside and watched the first two games of the series on TV.

had three days off work, is forcing alot of stress on the due dates of a few projects. I'll prolly be working a few hrs over the weekend and extra hrs next week to help catchup, if that is possible. The Air Force just ordered a large order and the design isn't finallized yet.

Air is OK here, I'm just to the point where I'm steering the tire to the blue skys.
