Anybody collect stamps?
I used to, too. My mom made me, for some reason. Perhaps to keep me away from gangs and drugs in the mean streets of Los Altos, California. Those stamps became my refuge.

Same here, but I haven't done it in a long time. I even forgot where my stamp books are. :p
But I'm not well versed in any way. I use bare hands to handle stamps, which I was told is really bad. Too much trouble for me.

I sorta "inherited" a nice collection as a kid. Had fun with it for a while, but then lost interest. I rediscovered it and am interested in cataloging/valuing them, etc... possibly to sell. But, I no longer know anything about collecting. So, wondering if anyone around here can help.

When I was growing up, seemed like every kid I knew on my block took up stamp collecting. This was our first hobby. From there I moved on to U-con gas powered model airplane building and bicycle tinkering.

When I discovered my collection in the garage a few months ago, I ran to Ebay thinking I was going to make a nice little profit. Turned out, nothing I had was even worth posting.
I still wonder if there's a hidden treasure in there that I overlooked, but I'm not curious enough to actually make the effort to look.

My guess is that the accessibility of eBay has devalued stamps somewhat. :( But, yeah, I'm hoping there's some gems in my collection. There's some pretty cool WWII era stuff.

pretty busy day for me, but got to get a nice ride in for lunch. Rode down Del Dios highway for the 1st time since the fires WOW......looking around the lake, I say close to 80% of it's shores on the west end near Del Dios is burnt. The fire fighters did a GREAT job saving the homes east of Hernadez Hideaway, I saw two homes with not much left east of there. But going west of that turn off streets is where it gets bad. All back from there to Rancho Santa Fe. They saved the yellow house on the hill before the dam. The rocks were all black, half the trees in the valley were crispy. You can see how fast the fire went through the area and also see exactly where it stayed long enough to burn all the trees. Looking south towards RB, that entire hill side is black. touching stuff, I'm going to have to take a camera with my on my next ride. The smell wasn't soo bad, few places it still had that smell. But the winds were about 10-15mph coming off the coast with strong cross winds from the NW.
I'm gonna feel real bad next time I climb Palomar South grade and mesa grande......

I went on my first real night trail ride last night. It was neat. These Dinotte lights are awesome.
Nothing like a quick dose of Miss Piggy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNUrTjUdMKA) to start the morning.

5:30/5:45 and rolling at 6pm sounds good. I'll go get some AA rechargeables from Walmart today. I don't think my Y2000 1400mAH hi-capacity batteries are up to the task.
I'll bring my night rover, fenix and the 200L so you can do a comparison. While I'd like to see your new bike, you may want to bring your single speed so that I can keep up. 1 round trip to Penasquitos is about 1 hr for me.

Thanks Dave, yes I've just been working most of the time so no time to post :) I love my new job.
I've become a swimming fanatic. Signed up with the local YMCA and now swim at Santa Monica college in the mornings and evenings to avoid the traffic.
I am up to 2-3k swims per session so I'm not doing too bad. My stroke is bad but alot better than anyone just starting out.
I want to swim a 10k without dying.
Seriously I thought I would dominate swimming but hot damn after about 500m my first time I felt like I just did a double century. It's pretty damn hard !

Jeff, I found the problem with my Dinotte! The reason it just kept on flashing is because it was in flashing mode. Duh! I guess I should've read the manual before bringing it out tonight.
Double-click to turn it on, 3s hold for off, 6s hold for flash.
Phew! All this time I thought I got a lemon. :p
BTW, I somehow managed to get more 4AA battery holders than I need. You can have a few for your upcoming light purchase.

Does anybody experience problems with wireless computers when using a light, like Niterider, or other HID lights? When I turn on my MOAB, my computer stops measuring distance and speed.

dave don't worry bout the time, I only wait 15 minutes or so. Not a prob + it's a night ride:D
The fenix was ALOT wider then I thought. On the DH I got to about 25 MPH and wasn't really worried about the lighting. The beam was about 100-120ft ahead. The hot spot itself was about 6ft wide, Filled up the bike lane entirely and filled the single lane up as well. Can't wait to see what two of those suckers would look like, one for a far beam and one closer. Glad to hear the Dinotte is working well too, you gotta get that one on the road.
The only computer prob I had was when I shined the light directly into the LCD screen (TOOO BRIGHT), it froze up but was good by the time I got home.

Handlebar mount on one side, Garmins on the bars on the other.
The afro works for me, doesn't it?

So how does the Fenix compare with the Dinotte 200L in terms of beam pattern and brightness?
I would not call the little piece of paper that comes with the Dinotte a "manual."

This is a funny thing written by Scott Martin in the RoadBikeRider newletter
I finally hocked my decrepit, boat-anchor road bike last week, then marched out and bought one of those new lightweight rigs. I was sorry to see the old gal go, but you gotta keep up with the times.
Plus, I got $150 for her. Not bad for a two-year-old, 16-pound carbon bike.
In her place: my new wonderbike weighing 11 pounds, including pedals, bottle cages and titanium tire levers. I can't wait to see how I look in polka dots.
There's just one small problem. To pay for my new $25,000 bike, I had to sell a few organs on eBay, and I don't mean Wurlitzers. No matter -- having two kidneys is overrated, and I'm fairly sure you can pedal a bicycle without a spleen. Besides, now I'm lighter too.
Which is good because my new machine is not recommended for anyone weighing more than 130 pounds. If I unload a couple more organs, I'll be in the ballpark. Appendix, anyone?
Actually, there's another slight difficulty. According to a sticker on the down tube, "Riding this bicycle in wind greater than 5 mph voids the warranty and can result in loss of control and/or limbs." Why did I have to move to Chicago?
Then again, the warranty's only valid for three months. ("Does not cover sprinting, riding on bumpy roads or leaning against things.")
Okay, so there's one final issue. Apparently my new bike violates the UCI's weight limit of just under 15 pounds. In other words, no Tour de France for me next year. Great -- I finally get a bike that gives me a shot at the yellow jersey, and I'm ineligible.[/font]
If I still had a spleen, I'd vent it.

Thanks, George! :) I was rather proud of my efforts. I bought the makeup at Cinema Secrets and temporarily colored my hair (it's "mostly" washed out today, although I kind of like the light brown on me). I took the makeup off when the children came through to trick or treat, though. The little ones would have been very scared by those scars!
