It was still cold at 4:00AM though... I did my bike commute today and wore my fleece tights (with knee warmers underneath even) and long sleeve UA shirt under my commuting jersey and shorts...
I was supposed to head to the pool this morning, but this bathroom remodel is kicking my butt. And I'm SUPPOSED to do my first tri Saturday. Well, at least it's only a 500m swim....

I was still sleeping at 4am, got out at about 6:15 and felt nice. Commuted to work after my ride too. Was funny wearing normal pants rolled up for my 4mile commute:p

Well it's not exactly short for me either, but I'm confortable doing up to 800m non-stop in the pool. Fortunatey it's a wetsuit swim in a flat bay (race is at Fiesta Island, swim in E. Mission Bay), so if I just relax and take it easy, the the only real hazard will be the yucky water...
I do want to get one more session in the pool in before Saturday, however.

No, I'm going to stare at it and punish myself.
It won't work. You'll just eat your way around it. Trust me as I've tried that tactic myself. They had Yummy's cupcakes here - my favorite, the Snowball - and I just walked on out of the kitchen to get away from them. I'm hungry enough without the punishment.:p

Jason, I gave up thinking in 1965 and have not missed it one bit. The amount of brainpower I exert to decide whether to eat ice cream is surprisingly low, in fact the answer is always yes.
See now, ice cream is something I can always pass on. I'm lucky that way. I never want a pint of it (or a bowl really). The only time I want it is if it's BR peanut butter chocolate on a sugar cone or Coldstone's with all the gooey stuff mixed in.
But the cupcakes or brownies....I would accept being obese and swimming in a tub of those if it wasn't for this cycling thing I just have to do.

We found a cupcake store in Pasadena here on Arroyo and tried to go on Sunday. They had their door opened, but were closed.
BTW, the new Wholefoods opened on Arroyo and it looks nice, but the city of Pasadena did some really moronic things with the traffic light they placed in front of it. If I was older I'd write them a letter complaining.

You mean DOTS? That place is evil. I stay far away due to the mini cupcakes. Come to think of it, cupcakes are my favorite thing in the world, but the icing has to be very sweet. Nothing more disappointing than a cupcake with that creamy frosting that isn't sweet. What the hell is up with that? Porto's cupcakes are awful! As are the Oinkster's. Yummy's are to die for and Dots are right up there with them.
Sigh. If only I were skinny. :(
As for Wholefoods - so overpriced. I get pissed at the one in Glendale all the time. Highway robbery!

A friend of mine got them for her birthday party a while back-- they were good. It's a good thing that I'm more into salty/spicy foods than cake and cupcakes.

I should have called you when we went to the Hunan place (Hunan King or something like that) around the corner from it on sunday. It's less greasy than the sichuan place and I think the food is a little better, but it doesn't have the special sichuan peppers than make your tongue tingle. It's pretty hot, but a different sort than the sichuan. We tried another really good Hunan place a couple weeks ago before Lucha. It was less hot but very tasty.
Next time we go to one I'll give you a call.

Yes, please. :) I'll try to join. But I'll warn you. I have NO "hot" tastebuds in my mouth. When ordering, I have eaten hot spices that others will pass out from and felt nothing. Kind of sucks, actually. But there are a few spices that I can feel. I love it when that happens and if I get a runny nose along with it, all the better.

If Hunan is what I think it is, then there's the Hunan chicken rice plate/bowl that is quite popular. Chicken w/(Chinese/Asian?) mushroom on top of rice. The whole thing is baked/steamed(?) together, so the chicken sauce flows down into the rice. The rice itself will become a little oily, but it tastes very good. :D

Maybe you're a bird? Birds arent' sensitive to capsaicin so they can munch on hot peppers all day with impunity.
for new places it's best when we go with someone who speaks chinese and can say "yes, I would like you to kill all my friends with the spicyness". At Chung King I think they know us pretty well now.

You, young man, should be packing a more nutritional breakfast. Might I suggest a PB&H (organic honey) and an apple, or some string cheese and two hard-boiled eggs. Even a bowl of sugar-filled cereal would be better as it will most likely be enriched with vitamins and the milk will give you calcium, protein and vitamin D.
