Since it's close to Xmas season, I finally got a quote for the C'dale crash/frame replacement program to replace my dented frame. Caad8 is no more and $600 to get the caad9. I think I'll keep my caad8 for the next little while until they start having a paint scheme that I like. :p
Did you just speak in English? :p Seriously, what's a Caad8?

Oops, sorry. It's some bike frame designation that Cannondale used.

biking related, my new bike will break the 400 mile mark in it's first month of riding:beer:I still haven't done any night riding or tried out my Dinotte light. If I don't slack off tomorrow, I think I'll ride my bike to work and try it out. :o

riding to work is the easy part, riding HOME when people are getting off work is a lil hairy. You need a brighter rear blinky. But it's an easy way to get milage and you feel good in the morning when you get to work. I know I do:D
crash you need to just ride more but don't get faster on the climbs so I can hang:p
I finally got a computer at work... and I have been there for 2 weeks already...

Sounds a lot like our IT dept.
But hey will bring a 4 yr old computer saying " its newly refurbished"
What they mean is " it's the same old rubbish".

no can do bro...getting slower is the exact opposite of what's on the agenda...
i really need to work on my power...i have none basically....i only outclimb you cause you give up 35 pounds or more to me...i really need to get down to about 155 or less and find a way to get more power....i do intervals and steady state stuff...i guess i just have to stop beating myself up about it...i've only been riding for 7 months.

Crash, my round trip to/from work is only 11 miles. :o
BTW Dan, here's the path I take when I ride home; although taking I-5 southbound will be much closer for you.
- Lusk/Pacific Center E-bound
- R - Pacific Heights S-bound (downhill after Mira Mesa)
- L - Carroll Canyon E-bound (no lights - slight uphill)
- R - Camino Santa Fe S-bound (dark approaching Miramar)
- R - Miramar W-bound (scary lane change to turn L on Nobel)
- L - Nobel S/W-bound (fast & wide turning cars from freeway exit)

if you're training to get faster and I'm training to get faster, I'm still gonna be slower LOL. Though I have crapload a miles this month, I havn't lost $hit for weight. I think I'm gaining memory muscle weigh so it's OK for now. I want to get down to 180 by Feb, which should help my climbing speed. Still a long ways away but on this pace I'm on I think I'll be OK. I'll now more in the next few weeks if the plan is working. These next two weekend have TOUGH rides coming up and I think it will tip the balance, mainly the baldy ride.
Want power, hit the damn gym!!! Leg press, squats and leg curls + core training. I can leg press all the 45lbs plates I can throw on the machine, 630lbs. Build a solid base for a few weeks, step up the weights with less reps 3-4 weeks in, starting gaining muscles. Few weeks of that lower the weight and do more reps faster and get the speed part into those stronger muscles.

Mo you don't want to know the parts cost for a CV boot on a normal car. So yah thats what happens when you have a $50k car.
Well, don't tell anybody, but I got it for less than half of that. It's not a Z06 Ligenfelter TT zoomer or anything. Blue Book on '99's are sub-$20K right now (http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/PricingReport.aspx?ManufacturerId=9&YearId=1999&VehicleClass=UsedCar&VehicleId=5131&PriceType=Private+Party&ModelId=45&Mileage=70000&SelectionHistory=5131%7c5739%7c92027%7c0%7c0%7c196834%7ctrue%7c196897%7ctrue%7c196894%7cfalse%7c5472 01%7ctrue%7c196903%7ctrue%7c196903%7cfalse%7c196903%7ctrue%7c196929%7ctrue%7c196938%7ctrue&Condition=Good&QuizConditions=).
Nice to know that after 3 years and 40,000 miles, I can pretty much get back what I paid for it....we'll just chalk a $3000 brake and clutch replacement as 'routine maintenance'.

CV boot - $5 ($7 if you count the cost of grease to repack the joint)
Labor to replace CV boot - ~1.5 hours at a rate of $75/hour
I had to replace 2 of the DOJ boots on my subaru (CV boot is on the outside of the axle, DOJ boot is on the inside of the axle) and it cost me $225 in labor for both.
As for brakes, well, i do all the work myself, however i'll be taking it to a shop when it's time for a new clutch.

Another craigslist success story - posted up a wheelset for sale last night (nothing special - Alex AT400 off my Allez - had them sitting around for no reason so I figured I'd at least get a decent meal off of them) - one guy this morning emailed, completely serious buy - coming on by later on after work to pick up, $85 cash in hand. No need to pack, ship, pay seller fees, etc. - schaweet.

:( Sorry to hear, Jeff. I'm not at 12 hr days right now, just 10. But my eyes cross when working on long projects. I'm going to the gym here soon. I've decided that I'm not going to work if I can't work out. It isn't worth it.

10 is still LONG enough. I've been trying to get more hrs in during the week just so I won't have to come in on saturdays. I hate working over the weekends. I have 2 really hot projects on my plate and have a customer un happy with airflow on their computer I designed. Not my fault they are sticking in a card with hot chips on it and no heat sinks...... bunch of headaches that won't go away. And the other mechanical engineer is taking 2 weeks off starting next week, great:rolleyes:

Trying to date somebody 3050 miles away is really fing stupid. What's even better - she thinks the best time to talk is when she's in bed, just barely awake. Totally incoherent, doesn't understand what I say, gets upset when I stop talking, but makes her feel "close".
Gawd I think I'm having man PMS this week.

how are things going? Less stressful I hope!!!
Stressful, but fine. I've come to accept that I'll be writing grant proposals full time for the rest of the calendar year. All in all, a few million dollars worth of proposals to write before winter break. My prof's counting on a postdoc and me to help raise the big bucks for the lab to spend, and it's a good experience for the two of us to get used to applying for grants since we'll have to do so in our own labs someday.
I'll be out on Palomar this Sunday to relax, though. :)

riding the bike is alway a great way to relax, that is the biggest reason I take lunch rides, anything from 30-60 minutes and ride HARD!! I'm more upbeat and by the end of the day I'm so tired and not thinking about the stress and deadlines.
Sunday is gonna be nice, I havn't rode Palomar since I tackled it on my singlespeed.....shillls.....

one of my wife's best friend's fiance just got a new bike. He picked up a new 07' Tarmac and wants to ride with me someday. Pretty cool considering he went from a 200 MTB to a nice 2k roadie. He works at UCSD, so alot of his co-workers ride. I told him about palomar this sunday but I think that would be a MEAN way to break him in:D

I don't know where I'm riding yet on Saturday, either with you guys or the local ranchos ride (gas prices suck). I wouldn't bring my buddy cuz he's a newb and I don't know his fitness level yet. He's a small guy so I'm sure he'll climb like hell after he gets a good base in.

OMG. So, I'm on this nutridata website entering my stats and it came back with this:
Your Body Mass Index
Your current Body Mass Index (BMI) is 3601.9.
BMI is a standardized ratio of weight to height, and is often used as a general indicator of health. The "normal" BMI for an adult woman of your height is 18.5 to 24.9. This translates to a healthy weight range of 1 to 1 lbs. However, BMI does not take body composition into account. A weight above this range could still be considered healthy if your percentage body fat is less than average. For more accurate determination of body fat levels, consider using a body fat caliper.
I'm so fat that my BMI is roughly 144 times higher than it should be.
How is that possible? And I'm thinking I should just give up now and waddle on down the hall where my coworkers are snacking on Yummy's cupcakes and have a couple. :p
