Southern California - So Cal needs a long thread "What's Up?" type thread!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

No. These are definitely road shoes. I'll post pic later, as I'm sure I'm just saying the wrong name.
dominators look just like road shoes, except for the silver cleats on the bottom. No worries, though, as they are just fine for road use...

 Maybe, he sure was drooling. He said that they are the best shoe ever made for cycling.

A quick search of SIDI Dominator in Google suggests all shoes of that model are MTB shoes. Just saying...
Though as long as your cleat can fit and you're comfy, it really doesn't matter whether it was designed for some other purpose.

unless it's a cowboy boot or something. that would look funny.
If M.E. wants to wear a cowboy boot when riding Patsy, who are we to judge her?

when I was looking at SIDIs there wasn't a huge difference in the look of the mtn bike and road shoes...

road a quick ride this morning, 42 miles local now back to work yeppieeeeeee.
Looking forward to getting my butt kicked on Palomar. Will be the first real climbing ride on the new steed.
Just picked up my new seat post, Thomson Elite. It was a bit longer than the OEM one. The LBS was willing to cut it but then mentioned all that might have done is drop about 10 grams so why bother, just an inch or two. And it's likely lighter than the stock one I had anyway.
Now I just gotta re-adjust the saddle, etc. again.

Back from the SDBC B ride. Got dropped again! Yeah! :o
Had a bad incident due to poor judgment (again) on the way home. Overshot an intersection by close to a car's length. Luckily not many cars and they were all stopped from the red before. I need to stop trying to catch a green left turn signal; especially on a downhill. :p
For the seatpost, you'll get a piece of mind every time you lift up your bike from the seat tube that it's re-enforced by a thomson inside. :D

Glad to hear you didn't end up plastered on the side of a car!
Yeah, I'm not sweating the seatpost...I did discover that my original post had some set back where I purchased the new one without any. Didn't realize it I guess. I'm forward about an inch from where I was before and not much room to move the saddle back.

Yeah, that's what I found when I first got a thomson non-setback. My stock seatpost while looking pretty straight had 20mm setback. The thomson with the larger clamp pushed the saddle forward too much.
I took a closer look at my speed profile during the incident and realized the braking/deceleration was a lot slower at the end when I skidded my tires. I should find some secluded area one day and try out higher speed maneuvers. Kind of like those car racing schools to train how to react.

It.
I'm not sure what the stock post had as a setback. With the stock post, I had the saddle lined up near the back edge of the rail. With the new post, I'm lined up near the front. I measured everything before the swap out and I think I'm okay but really won't have any room for moving the saddle back if I wanted to without getting another setback post. The Thomson setback is 16mm.

riding with a faster group will only make you faster. I'd recommend going back to the old group and spend the time up near the front where is the pace is higher and workload is more. Take you turn in pulls, get that power/sprints you need to ride with the faster groups. If you've been doing that already then the B is the way to go but you prolly need more time on the saddle to get up to par. Most of those guys might ride 3-5 times a week. How long into the ride are you getting dropped?
I'm now in SoCal, does that mean I can hang out in this thread for the next week?
Didn't get to ride today either, nor will I tomorrow. Crossing fingers to get a plan for next Saturday though. (Anyone near the San Fernando Valley have a spare bike in 56-58cm, or have suggestions for a shop that does rentals?) I got one suggestion from the SFVBC club for a high end shop out near Burbank that I need to look into more, but open to other alternatives too.

How long into the ride are you getting dropped?First time with B, I got dropped 35 miles in (50 total). 2nd time and I got dropped almost right away. Today it was back and forth. I always get dropped on the flats, was able to catch up only because the main pack is waiting at traffic lights, and can hang with the main pack when climbing.
Yeah, I think I need to switch back to the C+. :p
