Mateo44: Fails at internets...never received his cornbread stuffing recipe email...had to go with some crap from Bon Apetit (http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/102481). It has four forks, though...so I can be a little confident that the peeps won't ralph it up all over the fancy, decorative Indian corn centerpiece.

Drunken Louts: Hooray! The Brewery Ride is once again in the works. Hooray Beer.

Tiffanie: Wants everybody to accommodate HER! Typical of a whip-wielding D.

ME: Hates Christmas. My favorite song is "O come all ye faithful"... I sing it at the top of my lungs at least three times a day.

ZipTie and TehK: Charlie Brown's Christmas album has got nothing (NOTHING! I say) On Alvin and the Chipmunk's Christmas album.

Jschen: I don't think PGSWWFY means what you think it means.

I wish! I'm going to be a bit more conservatively and build back up slowly. Long base miles in December and hopefully, I can start hammering those mountains starting January.

(Dan gives me really good advice. Maybe I should start listening to him!)

15-20% hill repeats + running + bad cleat position + no rest.... D'Oh!

jsigone
11-21-07, 11:09 AM
too much float in your cleats? Once I switched over to the black fixed cleats with no float, all my knee probs went away. They is a lil float for tolerance but nothing like the 8-10* float before. Try it out, make sure you spend the time marking where you cleats were and adjust them throughout smaller rides.

Ms Happy, you got me thinking. I overextend my abilities all the time but it always results in sore muscles not tendon or ligament issues. I do have tendon and ligament issues when I twist a joint or something but not just cycling excessively steep hills. It leads me to think that my tendons and ligaments are stronger (relatively speaking) than my muscles. I do nothing specifically to make the tendons and ligaments stronger but that is all I can conclude.

Your leg muscles must be so strong that it exceeds the capacity of your tendons and ligaments,

Is there something that can be done about that? Is there such thing as tendon exercises or is it genetics?

Could be. I had a back injury years ago when my core couldn't support my legs. At that time I was pressing more than 200 lbs. over 3 sets. My back when out at 240 lbs.

Not that I needed the confirmation, but those are some hardcore legs on an eensy weensy frame.

My upper body wasn't as strong. I couldn't bench my own weight, for example.

Very interesting. I don't know what the answer is though.

Well, I do on the weightlifting, stop doing 240 lbs. (god, I am a genius)

I think on the climbing, it is ideal to have the muscles fatigue first. Not only do you get immediate feedback, the healing is in hours, not weeks. But I don't think you get much choice on the matter.

I think most have their genetic highs and lows. It is unfortunate that the rest of your body cannot keep up with your thunder thighs.

My limiter is my back. If I catch it early enough, I can generally ride in a few days. If I tough it out, I am off the bike for 8 weeks or more.
