Southern California - So Cal needs a long thread "What's Up?" type thread!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I need an excuse? ;)

Not for yourself but for others who question your sanity.

I need another bike like i need another hole in my head but that hasn't stopped me from buying two more frames. But i've got my reasons which i dole out to those who ask (like my mom who constantly complains that the house is being overrun by bicycles). :D Hopefully nobody notices the big box in the garage...

Not for yourself but for others who question your sanity.

People have stopped questioning that a long time ago.

(i.e. Pepperdine Hill without a warm-up!)

yeah, I don't know what the fascination with parking at the civic center is all about when there's a lovely park w/ water and bathrooms at the TOP of that hill. Sheesh.

Food. Starbucks.

Yeah, Ron, that is the reason, when done, we just throw the bikes in the cars and walk to the restaurants.

It's not that bad, Phil! But do be careful. I witnessed a guy almost lose control of his car this morning, but luckily I and others were going slow enough that it wasn't an issue. Drive carefully in this crap as other idiots out there don't.

Riding in the rain feels good. It's the cleanup afterwards that's kind of a mess. Last time I got my chain wet and didn't clean up until the day after. It started to rust. :(

I need to learn better braking skills. 2 days ago when I rode to work, there's a descend with a red light mid-way (SD Pacific Heights just south of Mira Mesa). My braking was marginal even on dry pavement. :p

but I am one of those drivers that drives normally (65 - 75MPH) in inclement weather. A little bit of rain should not slow traffic to 25MPH, only a ton of black ice should do that.

If people cannot drive normally during weather that is not "sunny and 75" then they can always stay at home and leave the streets to people that know how to drive...

The hole-in-the-floor ones? That's what the wimmins' are like. The "Western Style" ones with the Totos are pretty cool.

I mean, for a toilet.

It was quite weird when I was in Japan. I stayed at the cheaper ones where they only shoot cold or warm water jets up your... areas. I think some have a dryer function.

The Mitsuwa Japanese supermarket in SD sells them. No on-site demo though. :D
