Sean, your build is very close to the one I'm doing!
The same forks in RLC.
Went with the Hopes to keep cost down a little so I could have
the XTR shifters and RD.
They weighed the Chris King and Hope on a digital scale, within 10 grams or so.

I can hardly wait..... my current Mtb, an Intense Tracer frame, is 6 yrs old.
Although most of the parts are newer.

Personally I dont think the Kings are all that. I mean they are great hubs, but there are alot of great hubs and you picked another great hub.I really like that this is just under a 6in travel bike, climbs great, decends even better, and it can be built fairly light. Cant wait to see the finished product.:D

pics will be posted.....
I'm pretty sure the final weight should be jsut about the same as my current bike,
possibly lighter...

Just came back from the SDBC C+ group ride. I think sticking with the C+ is better for me. I can hang near the front and get a better workout, then getting dropped in the B and riding solo at a more relaxed pace. :o

sounds good Dave!!! Just take more pulls up front to get your lungs worked up if you want. You'll get to the B pace sooner then you know.

I'm still at work too, posing and staring at my bike. :)

Hey George!

JP and I met up with the Montrose Ride at Starbucks and looked for you.
The Pose Factor was severely lacking without you, although I finally did get to meet Redal (Josh). :)

Am I up before everyone else?

Fire alarm about 40 minutes ago. The firefighters determined that there's no fire, just some chemical spill or something in the parking levels. So they let us back in. But the alarm can't be reset until all the stuff dissipates. So no chance of sleeping until then. Lovely.

Brisk in the SFV this morning. In the sun, it was quite nice... in the shade, with wind chill, I was glad to have the layers.

No rides this weekend unfortunately. 5K race (supporting the Arthritis Foundation) yesterday morning, then a 10 mile run this morning around Mission Bay. I had only planned to go 8, but tagged along with a group that decided they were going 10, but at a pretty leisurely pace. Still, I had not done anything longer than 10K (6.2 mi) since last March, so I am kind of sore this afternoon!

Training for the Carlsbad Half Marathon, plus a still yet to be completed bathroom remodel (tile ordered and will arrive Monday) is putting a crimp on my riding. At least I finally got my trainer back from M. I'll have to try to squeeze in some lunch rides during the week.

I rode with Happy today. I have pics that I'll post in a bit. It was cold but glorious out there. Now, I'm apartment hunting. I just saw a place and my gut was, "no way." I'm seeing another place tomorrow. Does anyone know if I can be penalized for giving less than 30 days notice to my landlords? In other words, if I love the apartment I see tomorrow, and the guy decides to rent it to me and I give notice on the fourth or fifth, do I still owe rent in January to my landlords?

Everything should be pro-rated.
I always give 30 day ( assuming your not on a lease) and have a 2-3 day overlap
from one residence to anther. That way you can move and not feel rushed.
So, why did you move? The land lord just a Jerk, or more to it?>?

Not for the whole month, but you'd probably owe for 4 or 5 days.

Well, I haven't moved yet! ;) I just need more space. There are other issues here that over seven years, I need a change. My landlords are just going to keep upping the rent and they are not very responsive. My closets are so tiny, I cannot get in them (I sometimes just dig to the back and wear whatever I pull out as it is such a hassle!) I have little room for my bikes (one is in storage), and my window unit a/c is over 10 years old and barely puts out cold air three feet in front of it (no, the landlords won't replace it until it doesn't work at all, but they would be happy for me to buy a unit and put it in myself as long as I store theirs until I decide to move ). I pay $824. The building I'm looking at which is less than two miles away (so I would still be in Sherman Oaks under rent control) is $1050.00. I go to see it tomorrow. The manager I talked to loved me (over the phone - I put on my thickest southern accent) and talked to me for awhile. The building won some architectural award and he swears the apartment is enormous, has good closet space, a large kitchen (something else I want) and central air/heat. It has other imentities I want as well. I did not ask, he volunteered, but the rent is this low as the person who owns it is older and doesn't care to raise it. They just want the right tenant in there - someone who will take care of the apartment (he says it is uniquely designed and is very pretty) and who will hopefully stay. I'm sure there are some down sides, but if I like it, I'm moving!

Stood in line for 4 hrs in the hope that I "might" score a Nintendo Wii.
Now this is not for me or a gift from me. I accompanied a friend on this quest.
Wii were the next in line just after the "list" was full.
Stuck around in hopes someone bailed out, and well....
Yup, someone gave up a we got to Wii!! :D

Hope the kid ( uh, 22 yr old) enjoys the gift!
Had a few cut and try and claim they were "first in line"
and the manager said nope, he knew who was there...

Cliff notes:

• It was 40-something degrees when we started. I showed up hermetically sealed. (Or as ME said, I just looked like a seal). ME just wore warm bike clothes, but she kept taking them off throughout the ride.

• Face count: Five. Saw Yogi13 riding by, then Dunwood (Eric) and Ed at Coffee Bean. Then Dr. Dan, and then my tribuddy James on his cyclocross bike.

• I tried to figure out how Assos Girl rides. She must like riding unicycles.

• Dirty dinosaur jokes.

• Riding up hills (er, "bumps") after breakfast at Good Stuff... prolly not a good idea.

• Beautiful weather out there today after it started warming up!!!! :D

Anywho...great ride...It was nice to meet ya bro...look forward to riding with ya again..it's nice having you do some pulls...like sitting behind a semi...dead silent..scared you're gonna hit the brakes and i can't see ****!

Jay-...i thought you said you were weak:eek:?...what was that...?...thanks for the pain bro...wish you would have slowed down a mph or two so i could have pulled some too!

"Healed" is sort of relative. The antibiotics are fighting the sinus infection and my asthma is more or less under control. I was going slow with Tracie and the exercise didn't make me any worse, so I guess I would say I am "healing".

It depends on what your rental agreement says. Most DO require notice.

yeah, most require a 30 day notice, however, that would mean they would prorate your January rent.. so if you gave notice on monday, you'd pay for 2-3 days of January... so depending on when they actually start/end counting the 30 days, you may own $80 or less (3 days'ish)

Can't wait to hear how the apartment looks!
