busy night for me, I got volunteered to make cake for monday's b-day celebration, one of the guys at work wants a german chocolate cake, not easy to find at costco LOL. So then my name came up.

Make a 3 layer 9" round german and a 3 layer 9" round carrot cake. PLUS I have to make one for home so I can eat some tonight:D

yeah, most require a 30 day notice, however, that would mean they would prorate your January rent.. so if you gave notice on monday, you'd pay for 2-3 days of January... so depending on when they actually start/end counting the 30 days, you may own $80 or less (3 days'ish)

Can't wait to hear how the apartment looks!

Trac'

Personally, I like to overlap them for a few days. That way I can take my time moving and don't have to stress getting everything moved and then coming back to clean the old place in the same day. Good luck, nothing like a new place to get the ju ju flowing again. (whatever that means)

I  you, Trac. If you lived closer, we'd be hanging out all the time.

We'll see. I'm in no hurry. It has to be the most perfect apartment. But I'm determined to move. I love my place on so many levels, but I need MORE space!

Finally finished my Self Assessment for work. That has got to be more painful than root canal work. Why is that? After 9 years with basically the same company, you'd figure it would get easier every year, but it doesn't ... because they keep changing the format! arghhhh

I used to be all detailed and introspective with my self reviews. Then I started giving myself really high marks for everything (all deserved of course  ). That made it easier and more fun to do them.

Yeah, had some DNS issues on our network today we had to work out. We got in a nice new internet connection last week....10 mb fiber right to our router...sweet!

Let me see if I have this right.....it's freezing in the mornings with frost everywhere but it's gonna be nice today and could be in the high 80's tomorrow. Then it's gets windy on Wed, cloudy on Thursday and big rain event on Friday and Sat? Kills my mileage for the month! (and would be 2nd rainout for our daughter's playoff soccer game Sat since last Sat's was cancelled. Nuts! We're going to end up having to complete this next week on a school night.)

Tried out my new PI Inferno gloves yesterday. Not bad....still had some finger chill though. May have to try liners with them. I HATE COLD FINGERS! SAME WITH TOES! Got to find some wooly socks.

Took a bit of doing to get the shifting down with these gloves.

Catching up:

You people bore me. I'm bored.

I, however, did something super cool this weekend. I went out with just the fellas to Stone...had Smoked Porter and something called Christoffel Bock, but the stone was better. The baby garlicky brussel sprouts were good. The big-ass Argentinian steak for two was okay. Splitting it with a guy wasn't gay in the least.

Then we went to this Irish pub called O'Sullivans on Broadway in Escondido...they have Boddington's on tap...had two, then a Black and Tan, then as I got tired of going to the bathroom, I switched to Bailey's and coffee...but only after I had to decline an 'Angry Red-headed Biatch' drink the waitress offered.

The capper: There's three...1. the entertainment was a lone guitarist that was awesome at getting people involved. 2. one of my buddies was smacked upside the head by a nice set of OEM sweater puppies while their drunken owner navigated toward the bar, and 3. at the next table over were a pair of swingers in their late 30's...and the women were groping and making out for an hour.

One of my buddies just about dropped and Irish Car Bomb in his pants....if-ya-knowwhatImean.

Anyway...Sunday was spent while wife shopped, then did some kooky 'Cookie Exchange' where she had to make 8 dozen cookies...She came home with an arseload of cookies.

But the most awesomest part was the sweet hangover I had. It was awesome...just a dull headache with a side of nausea all day.

Best part is, my wife thought I was A-OK...I'm a trooper, and knew if I cried about myself, I'd ruin her day. That would be bad.

Nope...dude who won the tickets called to cancel b/c of the rain...and he knew that some drunk swabbies would be there getting naked, and he's just not down for the seamen. I had to agree.

How was the show? In hindsight, I had two tickets...I should have just gone anyway, scored some skank hooker on the way, and rocked til the break a dawn.

Ugh...searching for a place is so frustrating. I've seen three places, none of which I'd consider living. Tonight, I saw an apartment in Sherman Oaks. The manager is this man whom I'd guess to be in his late 50s. He is a smoker, so he had that raspy laugh, but the sweetest man. He showed me this huge (and it was huge) apartment that was so butt ugly I couldn't believe my eyes. He kept telling me how pretty I am and sweet, all while touching my elbow and shoulder repeatedly. He wasn't scary in the least and I wasn't worried for my safety, just creeped out. I didn't have the heart to say to him that he should NEVER tell people looking for apartments that the unit he showed me is unique or charming. It was a box with the ugliest kitchen I think I've seen in awhile and midnight blue, wall-to-wall carpeting. Zero appeal. As I left he said, "you're so charming, I hope you move in...I really hope you do." I imagine he's lonely. :(

Oh, trust me, I RAN from that place. I'm still looking, but maybe I should just stay put. I have a lovely apartment (with french doors) in a great location way under market. It has it's issues, but it also has it's charm. Unless I make a ton of money anytime soon, I can't afford the $1600 rents that come with the type of apartment I'd want (in this area anyway). I'm still looking and have three months to look around (on Westsiderentals.com anyway) and then I can decide, but no creepy landlords for me! Of course, I really do think he's just lonely.

most of them require a credit report, and you will need a co-signer if there are bad things in there. I have even heard of some places running background checks...
