guess i'll find out tonight(about the mile thing). is it cheating if my dog is pulling me a little?

It's only cheating if you put on rollerblades and have your dog pull you. (fun though...especially with two dogs who don't run in straight lines.)

So, I'm thinking the apartment I have is a gem. So far, the ones I've seen and driven by are dismal, and I've been looking in the $1000 to $1300 range for a 1 bd room.
Here is what I've learned about what owners mean when they advertise:
Cute or cozy = small and cramped
Charming = somewhat clean with either wood floors, ceiling fans or older unit
Remodeled = crappy fixtures and new cheap white blinds
Spacious = a child will think it's really big
Unique = wall to wall blue carpeting
Bright = the front door opens and light comes in when it does
Walk-in closet = there is hardly room for your queen-sized bed
Gated parking and or controlled access = do not wear red or blue, and don't even think of a bandana - oh, and if you hear gunshots, duck
A steal, price reduced or best deal in the area = run

Mo, 30K is cutting slim for 300hp coupe ya know. Unless you don't mind used? That the case, get a 2yr old M3 coupe and it comes in auto + paddle shifters. Another option, is the RX8, 230hp, 4 door with ROOMY back (no center back seat though), only prob you have to rev the piss outa it to get the power, very different then the vett. Rx8 redline is 9k!!!! Was one reason I didn't get that or the S2000, didn't want to rev the $hit outa it for power band. The G35 coupe you can get used for low 20's. EVO's and STI are clutch pedal only.
If it was me, I'd look into a bit older M3 or a lightly used G35 coupe.
paddle shifter is so rice omg.
Rx8= SLOW HOLY CRAP OMG. My car is faster than the RX8.
G35 = boat
EVO/STI= mans cars!!! /drool

$100 says I will destroy you on any AutoX course in my Spec V vs a stock RX8 or G35.
I only have SS/CAI/DP/E

phff rx8 sux...having to rev to 5k rpms just to feel ANY power is not enjoyable. They're like, "IT REVS TO 10K+ RPMS". I'm like "wow it has no power until 5, whats your point"

The point is it has more power. More power means more acceleration/speed. What's the matter Ovo, you don't know how to shift?
My first car was a 2nd Gen Mazda RX-7 Turbo. That car was fun.

My thinking with horsepower is like amplifier wattage. I'd rather have 1000 watts and only need 100, than need 100 and only have 100.
It's all about headroom.
I love that I can be at 75 mph, and only 1500 rpm in my car...with still enough torque to pass and climb with no issues.

notta mahn, I found out last night when I was loading up my bike, the rear rim is bent bad,
like almost 1/4" When I rode at lunch I thought I was just having a BAD day, my legs were killing me.
Prolly got it from going off that drop in carlsbad construction (south bound). I was going 20+ when I went off that curb like drop. I say that one, because I cleared that hole I bunny hopped in La Costa.
Anyways, my buddy is letting me borrow his truing stand and tools and I'll have at it tonight. Hope I can fix it. I can't afford to get a wheel set til Feb:(

If you want a good "play" hill, the new Twin Oaks Hill is awesome for that. 2.2miles at 8-9% up, DH the back side, 3 miles back up at about 6% grade. about 10 miles out and back per lap, repeat til you fall off your bike. Most i've done was 3 laps.

Jeff: Good news! The GM transmission guru drove my car this morning and guess what? The clutch is still messed up. 1st gear chatter and it's slipping.
F%$*%&%#(*##&t$*^*UCK!
Next step: Go back to the mechanic that installed the new clutch TWICE and have him remove the crap he installed an install OEM GM parts.
jsigone
12-05-07, 12:32 PM
i wonder what type of crappy parts he put in there to begin with... I doubt you needed to replace both your master and slave cyls too (1st sign of getting screwed) Those don't go out til like 150k miles or so, and still then it's only one that goes out.
anyhow, good luck and enjoy the Kia
Mo'Phat
12-05-07, 12:50 PM
Even the GM guys recommend replacing the slave..as minor flywheel variations can effect it...or somesuch BS.
I don't thing the Master was replaced like I said before. I think it was just the clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, throwout bearing and slave.
jsigone
12-05-07, 12:57 PM
yah sounds about right, I think they used some junk parts if it's slipping and stuff already. That or they didn't put a new flywheel in there and the unevem heatspots roasted the new clutch disk. Iduno, you'd think a clutch job is simple if you took it to a shop to get done. I can only imagine the headache you are going through.
My friends that paid to have their clutches done, brought in all the parts so they just paid for the labor. Knowing what they hell is getting installed you know. For the most part, we have install parties now, and take a day to swap out the systems in my friends garage. The owner of the car just pays for pizza/food and drinks. Ends up that there are 2-3 cars getting stuff worked on at the same time.

Hindsight...always 20/20.
You'll see, though, when you have kids...your 'free time' becomes 'family time'. And when you're home, you're playing or giving your wife a break. Getting any time 'off' to wrench on the car or bike, go for a ride, work on the yard, repair a faucet or anything, becomes harder and harder to do.
I (to be brutally honest) can't wait 'til my kids are both at friend's houses or something all night. I love 'em to death, but doing anything for me becomes a guilty pleasure.

I just spent the last half an hour giving a statement to the police about an accident I witnessed. An SUV ran a stop sign and plowed into the rear corner of an SC 430 driven by an old man. The young couple in the SUV said the Lexus was speeding and "came out of nowhere." Hard to justify, as the Lexus had no stopsign and the SUV did. I never said anything about it, but I can't help but wonder if the squalling infant was a distraction...

yah no kids yet, soon I hope, I don't want to be too old when they are in High school and such. You're right though, its gonna be hard for me to ride long stuff, and spend all day wrenching in a garage. Somehow we all manage our time, some just have more free time then others. When my kids grow up I want them active, sports and such, in turn that will make me more active and less "alone" time to ride.
Do you have the bowling game for Wii? I got it for my nepthews for xmas gift. My sis told me to get that for them.
