Ah man, I thought it's gonna rain so I didn't ride. Turns out to be such a great day too. :p

On the brighter side, I finally adjusted my bike positions. Turns out my saddle was 4 cm forward and 1-2 cm higher on the new bike. Hopefully this would eliminate my cramping on it. I guess my matching-by-eye-balling doesn't work. :D

yeah, tape measures are a cool thing. i actually have my settings written down. don't think they've changed much in the last several years other than rotating the bars back to make the tops flatter.

Thanks for the suggestion, Cleave. My bro-in-law got his Look at a San Diego bike store. That store says they're one of the few Serotta certified so I think I may go there.

Well, soccer game over and Hilly's team is now out...season over. Well, at least we don't have to play again this afternoon or Monday night!

Got in a nice 15 mile loop after the game. Bit chilly. I had on a base layer plus long sleeve jersey and windbreaker with super gloves. My hands got a bit too warm, though. Tell me something about base layers....when you remove the shirt, should it be pretty wet? I'm using an old one I had from skiing many years ago and wondered if it works. How dry should I be in there?

Still got to find some wool socks...my feet get too cold on days like this. Looking at a couple of shoe covers, courtesy of the Winter Riding sub-forum. Any suggestions?

Sheldon

Sheldon, when you layer and include a windbreaker, the inside stuff won't wick as well, well, OK, won't wick at all.

As for the toes, I have these neoprene booties that are such a pain to get on and off I end up never using them. I think this year I will get some that just cover the toes. As Joy said, thick socks may cramp your feet in the shoe too much.

Where did you ride, Jim?? :)

I did the Simi ride. I didn't have a computer on my bike today but I really think it was a faster pace today. I am spent, ya know in a good way.

Glad to hear your mountain bike adventure went well!!

Jeff, how's your biopace wheel going? I have an extra Krysium Equipe rear that you can use until you get a better set next year. No need to spend money on a short term solution.

I also have Tempest 2, and an Open Pro-32 that you can try. The first may give you an idea of the Vista SL. The latter may not tell you much since it may depend on other factors than the rim (+my hub is much heavier than the ultegra).

Do the run immediately after the bike, and you'll experience the "fun" of a brick workout! :D

I did not ride today, but I took a walk in San Clemente Canyon. It's pretty interesting that the creek bed actually has water in it. A LOT of water.

EDIT: Did NOT ride . . . *grumble*

shortened up my route today, filled it with 4 trips up Mt Murderrrrrrr....i forgot how much that darn hill can kick my *****. On the last round up, I went all the way to the back to take these.
Palmor Mt got few inches of snow last night, looked like more this morning so some might have melted already. I wish I could have ridden up there today.

I think I'm going to take my mountain bike for a spin around 1pm and climb the hills in my neighborhood. No computer, just my big Red Baron. :D I need exercise and didn't get up in time to put in a full ride (I'm cleaning my apartment and doing chores that I hate ) But a ride on the Baron will get my blood pumping.

Tracy, if you check in...I  you. :)

You're so cute! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D the strength you gain doing those hills will translate well to your road bike :p

The trails at hodges are still closed though I think people still go there though. From Del Dios you can see what the fire did to the area. If you look closely, you will see a few houses that didn't make it. Sad stuff, I see it alot since Del Dios is one of my lunch routes.

I generally swim 2000m when I feel decent/good. Generally no stopping, maybe once or twice for 5mins. If I feel fantastic I will swim 3000-4000m.

Then I do chest/biceps/shoulders one day. Back, triceps the next day. Abs everyday. 5 days a week

Bombing down dirt at 30-40 m/h I have no problem. :D
On a mild downhill grade on a paved road, 30-40 m/h I have no prob.:)
Put me on a paved road with a steep grade and I get nervous after 25m/h. all I can think of is
the skinny little tires bowing out....

50+ on the Road.. I think I'd pee myself...

Those little tires just pop way too easily....

So looks like I need to do hill repeats to get used to the DH.

i rode again today:

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f57/wahoolee/pt.jpg
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f57/wahoolee/bikepath.jpg

i haven't ridden in the last 4 months because i wanted to get back into a weight training mode and then incorporate the bike. i tried to do it the opposite way and i wouldn't go to the gym, i just wanted to ride.
as a result of my 3 month weight training and supplement intake experiment, i've put on 12 lbs of muscle. my leg workouts in the gym have paid off, also. i know, i'm doing a blistering 9mph in the picture above but having not ridden in 4 months, i can exponentially tell the difference in the power i have and can tap into now. my aerobic stamina isn't there because of no conditioning on the bike, but the power is evident. i am very pleased. :)
