Southern California - So Cal needs a long thread "What's Up?" type thread!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

He keeps buying stuff, trying it once, not liking it...then just hands it to me. So far, I have a brand new Headsweats wrap, long-finger gloves, a carbon Topeak microrocket pump, Michelin Krylion tires, a Sram cassette, and other miscellani. Dude is OCP stapled to another OCP'er. Works out in my favor.

I've noticed that Mo' doesn't like the more urban routes in SoCal. I finally realized that the real reason is that they increase the chances or him running into old "friends" that he owes money to. BTW, Mr. Costelli says hi.

Not completely true...the Rancho Santa Phatride went all the way from La Costa to Torrey pines...that was urbanesque.

You're right, though...If given a choice to ride deserted backroads or traverse a concrete-n-signal jungle, I choose the peace and tranquility of rural Americana.

/now get off my lawn.

When he decides that DuraAce is crap and opts for Campy Record, you can have my 9sp Ultegra setup, K?

No burrito for me.

Two reasons:

All due respect to PaulB and his planning, I didn't like the route. Too many signals for nearly 60 miles of it, and going through downtown SD, navigating through Point Loma and by the airport at mile 100 at 4 pm was a pain in the ass. Pendleton was cool, though.

Also, I'm totally out of shape, even for a 'flat' century. My ass can't take a whole day in-saddle. My legs and lungs could probably take it, but I wouldn't be able to sit for a week.

ride w/ us, we're leaving from Oside, ride up to that 711 on the 101 and Pico, ride with the BF group til your legs fall off. Options for ending the ride

a)Stop back in Oside (60ish miles)
b)Lunch in Solona Beach and train back to Oside (80ish miles)
c)U turn at Solona beach and ride back to Oside (110ish miles)
d)Ride to downtown and train back to Oside (125ish miles)

After he goes with Campy Record show him SRAM and make him believe that setup is the best... that way you get the DA and I can have the Record... :D

Ladies, ladies...it's an Eastern King, not a California King, so you'll be pleased to know it can rest 3 abreast quite nicely.

Well, I've had 4 or more breasts on my standard Queen, so I wasn't worried about fitting.

Yep, this is my second week back to climbing and I can feel it in my legs. Lucky for us we only get a handful of mornings this cold each year. It doesn't get much worse, I think the coldest I saw last year was 29* in Laguna Canyon, that spot just feels like someone opened the freezer door.

Ouch. NO way. But good for you, Pat. That would be manning up for sure.
I don't know if it's manning up or just stupid, I mean I left a perfectly comfy warm bed to go freeze my *** off at 5:30am.

I went to the gym today and was running on the treadmill next to the "Lingerie Model." When she gets going she grunts, groans, squeaks, and moans, which is kind of distracting if you aren't ready for it. Thankfully, I've run next to her before and know to just turn up my iPod.

Anyway, I decided to play with the leg press machine today to see how much I can do. My last set was 5 reps at 10 plates (I think I could've gotten another plate on top but was out of time), I guess this cycling thing has been helpful for something.

How do you know she's the "Lingerie Model?" Does she run in her panties? Or does she wear a t-shirt that says, "Lingerie Model?" Otherwise, you need to stop looking at her as your wife is already the "Looks Better Naked" model.:p

I didn't give her the nickname, I overheard someone say "her comes the Lingerie Model" when she came in.

I don't look at her, if I did I'd trip on the treadmill, I'm not that coordinated.

That Mark.

My mileage for Burrito Century '06 was 100.81. That's from my house to the 7-11, then to the SD train station and from the Oceanside station to my house.

Got a few pics from an event this past weekend for work - we usually have an Adopt-a-Family event this time of year where we get presents for our client families. This was the first year that Disney sponsored the event for our site - we adopted over 140 families, and this past Saturday had a huge event in El Monte to distribute the gifts to the families.

You know, there are few things that beat seeing your adolescent client with anger issues open their mouth in awe at seeing that there were 20 large bags filled with presents for their family. Or the look on the 8 year-old's face when they are presented with a shiny new bike. I kinda felt like I was on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition or something. Kinda crazy.

I was running around and too busy to snap pictures, so I bummed a few from my coworkers.

Two of these trucks - filled front-to-back with gifts.
