My dog was like that too, but she wasn't deaf. She takes her leisure time and tour around the yard looking to scare away squirrels and stuff. If you have call she'll ignore you. If you yell out that you have things to eat and make noises from the food bags, she'll come running right back. :D

The old gal finally decided to come inside last night and opted for sleeping on the bed. During the night, I'd hear a grunt/sigh and a few seconds later, the room would fill with a noxious stink.

She let go gaseous dogbomb after gaseous dogbomb until I got a headache and had to send her to her room. Who knew Science Diet's Senior Formula results in such gastrointestinal expulsions!

I know you guys probably all wish I'd shut up, get on my bike and ride, but since I'm still sniffling (but may try to ride a little later), I finally got my new rug! AND pillows for my couch (the other decor I had for 7 years!) I needed a change. My place looks so pretty! It's like a new apartment without the movers with plumber crack transporting my items to a new, more expensive place. Now, I just have to clean my bedroom and my whole place will be all sparkling.

Plus, I cleaned out my refrigerator yesterday (after a whole year and I won't even try to describe the ick factor), and this morning I went grocery shopping. Yup! Like a grown up, I went to Trader Joe's and bought stuff to cook and all. I made my own breakfast and coffee here...AT my place. :p:D

I have a grinder, but actually I bought TJ's Hazelnut coffee (I love hazelnut) and it was pre-ground.

Today was wash day for my bikes. I noticed the Bianchi’s rear brake sticking, looking at it, there was rust on the cable. OK, no problem, I will replace the brake housing and cable.

I have the FSA K-Wing bars where the housing is threaded inside. I didn’t originally string this bike and this was my first foray into replacing the housing inside the bar. I have fished enough cable/wire to know some of the tricks. So I pulled out the cable and housing, cut my new ones and tried threading it. No luck. I tried various cable-hook methods but just couldn’t latch on. Part of the problem was the shifter housing was still there and kind of getting in the way.

I finally took a 12-gauge insulated electrical wire and was able to string that through OK. I thought if I could get a cable on it and string it back through, I can then push the housing through using the cable as a guide. There was no way I could attach the cable to the wire. The holes in the handlebar was so small, there just wasn’t any room to fit a hook on the wire. Then it hit me, I stripped a bit off the wire and then crimped the housing to it. Then it was a simple matter of threading the housing through. Of course, I had to trim the crimped end of the housing a bit.

The next time I need to do this, I will just take a 1” length of 12g wire and crimp it in the new and old housing and pull the old one out while pulling the new one in.

Had the first Dirt ride on the Yeti today.
Rode Aliso Woods, coyote twice ( one up, one down ) climbed Chola to top o' the world,
and down rock-it.

The Yeti climed like a billy goat, and decended even better.
I cleared going up Chola for the first time ever!! ( well, one Dab!)
The 5.75" of travel ate up Rock-it. I found myself going over things that I normally would ride
around. The suspension gobbled up and spit out everything I threw at it!!

I am "completely satisfied", this bike rocks.:D

You say that as if it's an uncommon thing for you. Are you stating that you don't usually cook... AT your place?

I used to cook all the time. I make the best turkey chili I've ever had (with a secret ingredient one must be over 21 to purchase), but in the last year with my job responsibilities increasing and trying to keep an aggressive ride schedule, I've become the quintessential bachelorette - dirty apartment, dishes in the sink (wine and water glasses mind you - nary a plate), and a bad habit of eating every meal out (mostly salads from CCC or take out from Sansai – so not super-expensive, but still!) Well, I’ve decided in the New Year, no more of that. Since I’m sick and didn’t feel well enough to ride, I channeled what energy I had into sprucing this place up. I now feel calm. Oh…and I made myself lunch (yogurt with fruit and a sprinkling of almonds) and dinner, shrimp stir fry and cup of butternut squash soup. I feel like a real woman…excepting the preparing the dinner from scratch. That I did not do.

Grand Tour gives away patches like that. I have two (05 and 06). It matches up with the "Highland" or "Lowland" patch and the large round center patch.

Good to hear, Crash. I've not kicked mine entirely (of course, I really do think now that it was a touch of the flu and possibly not a cold). I did make it to the gym this morning, though, and I feel tons better. Exercise really does elevate one's mood. So, the gym will likely be good for you.

No, I live in the middle of a bunch of small hills.

Bummed me out, because I told my wife I'd be 3 hours, my 'puter is on the fritz, so I was going by cellphone clock, and got home 30 minutes early. Super...now my wife could get started shopping early.

Maybe I should Bikely my excursions beforehand to let me know if the way back is more downhill than the way out.
