Does anyone else have a problem with a wireless Cateye not working in the cold? Mine shut off on Sunday and today for about an hour each day. This happened on 2 of the KOM events also. I've checked the batteries and the sensor/magnet spacing. I also replaced the entire unit in July. It's a Micro Wireless.

so does this mean the brewery ride is going to turn into a big pissing contest once we hit the hills? because i think a good portion of the group is just treating it as a fun ride.I went on the "Torture Tuesday" club ride today. We met at Lawrence Welk's and the group split into two. They asked me which group I was going with, the fast climbers or the group with antlers taped to their helmets. I looked at the climbers and they all looked like skinny Extorts. I went with the antlers. We cruised over to breakfast in Vista. I like Torture Tuesday.

I'm thinking Jeff's mistaking his HRM for a speedometer...
Again.
I thought you didn't ride with a computer.
took off the HRM, wont fit over the new bars. The new bike got a Mavic computer so I'm working with numbers again.

Jeff's exercise should work for me if I subtract 10mph from all his numbers...
Still very sunny in SD. Make me wonder whether I should trust the forecast for Wed/Thurs (forecast says rain).
It's coming, don't worry. It took awhile to hit here in LA, but we have it now. Lot's of it. For the next 10 or so hours.

Why do people want to feed you when you're dieting? Why? It's the most obnoxious thing. I say, no thank you, and they just continue to ask and peddle their fat-laden-grease-filled-sugar-bombs.
So annoying

Right. And when you want a fat-laden-grease-filled-sugar-bomb all they have are celery sticks.

Clearly you do not work in the office I do. They NEVER lack for the fat-laden-grease-filled-sugar-bombs, Dan. And celery is a color to them, not a vegtable.:p

Being the holiday season, one of the things I like best about this time of year is all the food and goodies seemingly everywhere. Visiting my Mom's house these next few weeks would surely be the end of any dietary discipline. She spends weeks leading up to Christmas baking, and gives basketfuls of goodies as gifts. Some of her favorites are the honey glazed cinnamon nut cookies, the powder sugar coated cookie balls filled with chopped walnuts, a European date and nut roll called colachie (sp), fruit and spice flavored taffy, and her latest favorite, the sweet cream filled pastry you often find in Italian eateries. Oh, and she makes the most succulent cocoa fudge. I swear she uses a cup of sugar, a cup of cocoa, and a stick of butter in each piece. Mmm...

I don't have enough carbon on my bike for glue:o
DaveSANYYZ
12-19-07, 12:13 AM
:p It's not a glue. Just some paste so you can use less torque on seatposts, minimize cracking it, etc. My seatpost slid down on my first ride, so I've been a little concerned that it may crack if I tighten it too much; it's non-standard/non-cylindrical.

I rode in to work in a light drizzle. Nice, better than driving.
Should be clearing by early afternoon.
the rain sucks... mostly because drivers in this state are scared of a little water and automatically get into the fast lane and then drive at 50MPH...

My brother decided to start getting some exercise (something about the fast-approaching 300lb mark seemed to finally motivate him). So he bought a MTB to ride on the desert trails near his PHX home. I gave him a laundry list of accessories he would need to go along with the bike, but he said "I want to make sure I like biking, before I buy all that ****". Okay, fair enough.
He just called me, so out of breath I could barely understand him: "I'm five miles from home and I have a flat tire!"
LOL.

had to settle for the gym this morning since I didn't want to ride in the rain. My leg presses are starting to come back, max press today was 630lbs, 14 of them 45lbs plates. And single leg presses of 10 plates.
Couple of yrs ago when I raced MTBs, I used to max that machine out with 16 plates. 2 more to go:D
Gonna go back at lunch to run on the machine...fun..damn I hate this weather:mad:

Which gym? I use 24 hour Fitness next to the I-15 and that Infiniti dealership. I'm always worried about that leg press machine, since it's on the 2nd floor of a 2-story tilt-up building. I'm sure loading was taken into consideration, but I max at 18 plates (when I can find the damn things...hate the bench press wannabes that use a 45 lb plate and a 5 lb plate on each side. Use two 25's ya pansies...leave the big weights for the leg press)...so 18x45 = 810, + the weight of the sled...probably another 200 or so, plus the weight of me...another 200 or so...that's 1210 lbs on a small footprint.
I'm waiting to crash through the floor on some schmo on a treadmill.
They need 100 lb plates.
/no, I don't rep 18 plates. It's not my max...but it's all the sled will hold. I rep with 14, since that's all I normally care to scrounge up from the rest of the gym.

Just remind him how many calories he'll burn on the walk home!
When I lived in Phoenix, I used both Slime tubes and tire liners. (this was pre-tubeless). With cactus thorns and other spiny things all over the place, they were mandatory. I was almost tempted to go with solid rubber tires.

I've been at the same 24 you go to for about a yr, I used to go to the one in RB by souplantation and the one in PQ when I lived in that area.
I don't know what the weight of the sled is, never factored that in. I'm making good power again, I just need to raise my muscle speeds.

Thanks, Jeff. Yes, I know it's a good thing, just painful. But I was aggressive since I didn't work out but two days last week (before I got sick). I probably should have gone a little lighter. I also did the tread climber on Max for 30 minutes. Tonight, I'm going to either just run or do the tread climber and take it a little easier with the weights! (I did upper body on Monday and I'm still sore in my biceps today!)
