Southern California - So Cal needs a long thread "What's Up?" type thread!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I love the feeling of torn muscles in the morning.

I don't recommend it when doing a double metric though.

I've been at the same 24 you go to for about a yr, I used to go to the one in RB by souplantation and the one in PQ when I lived in that area.
I don't know what the weight of the sled is, never factored that in. I'm making good power again, I just need to raise my muscle speeds.

I've always guestimated the sled to be 45 lbs...but I don't factor it in either.

Jeez crap man. How much do you have on there when you're doing 8-10 reps?

Like Jeff, I'll normally rep (10 reps) with 14 plates. By the third set, the last 5 truly suck.

I'll do one warmup set of 20 reps with 8 plates, then 1 set of 14 reps of 12, then 3 sets of 10 with 14.

My best ever max was way back in 1997, when I did 20 plates. (9 per side, and 2 on top)...I did it 3 times and bailed out on the 4th. 990 lbs in just plates.

Mo', Jeff - Enough with the measuring up of plates and reps and all that blah blah. Just measure up and be done with it.

I won't need to hunt up a bunch of plates though; 2 will be plenty.

500lb plates at your gym, right? Or the rack has 800lbs welded to it, and if you can't do that, then you have no business on it.

Make sure they take you on the steep roads out there. The mountains aren't as steep, but they don't believe in pansy switchbacks so much.

Dec 27-29 are climbing days. They promise lots of climbing, and depending on the group that shows up and on how I'm feeling (still a bit out of it from lack of riding) we may hit some double digit grades. Dec 30 is gonna be flat as a pancake. May or may not ride on Dec 31. May or may not have a quick spin on Dec 26 (depending on whether time permits once I get out to western NC).

I bought a new computer today, a VDO wireless with cadence. Got it home, looked at the directions and took it back. Too many features, too complicated. It reminded me of my watch. Got a Cateye Strada instead. The last 2 Cateye wirelesses would die out in cold weather so I bought another one.

I'm on Rick's side. From reading his posts and knowing what he went through, I saw his calendar as a gag thing to raise some cash...then the discussion turned to how Rick was farking the IRS and how it's better to not give at all than to give to a startup charity.

Dude doesn't need that crap...and I like instigating, so it was natural for me to jump into the fray.
