I am a sweatter. When you see gags on tv where a guy is shown sweating buckets of water, like he has a hose under his hat, you are seeing a guy that sweats a little less than I do. I sweat when I think, so I don't sweat often, but when I do...

So I was searching for a headband. The sweat when I ride nearly blinds me as it drips into my eyes. Riding in trafic without being able to see is a bad thing. I have been wearing a terry cloth band, but once it saturates with sweat it actually seems to focus a stream into my eyes; drawing sweat from the nether regions of space.

So I find halo and read good reviews. I think sure, but no one sweats like me. Halo's claim to fame is a band that whisks the sweat behind the eyes once the sweat band is saturated. I purchased a regular band, a regular band with ear flaps, and skull cap. The material is light and all items are well made. The bottom line is that it works. No more sweat blindness for me.

I hate my halo. That plastic gasket thing digs into my forehead or something. I can wear it inside out but I prefer my crusty old headsweats headbands.

I don't go anywhere without my Halo. I wear it riding, hiking, jogging, walking the dogs. In a HARD sweat or a bouncy ride, I will get a little sweat passed the band. Despite that it's by far the best thing I've ever used.

Down at the bike store, I saw a little thingy like a sweat gutter that goes on in place of a headband. Anyone used one? I saw it listed on here somewhere under "Dorky Things I'd Never Buy", but that wouldn't bother me if it worked.

If the band was too tight I could see it being a big problem. For a big guy I guess I have a pin head.

i sweat buckets... i think its good for me... but it is an aggravation at times... i have to stop and wring out the sweatband... i buy the thickest ones i can find... usually the wilson brand... i can't wear sunscreen because i sweat so much... i've tried all different kinds that are not supposed to sting the eyes... but all i've tried still burn mine up...

I've never heard of Halo, but I'll look into it. I'm a head sweater too and I normally just wear a bandanna when I'm doing any outdoor activity in temps over 60 and wring it out periodically, but the bandanna's don't fit so well under my bike helmet, so the sweat runs down and gets into my eyes... not fun.

Yeah, I have a pretty big head I guess. Maybe I should stretch it out and try it again. I don't sweat that much so the gasket thing isn't a big deal to me. It just looks stupid when I wear it inside out.

I do sweat enough that I never ride without a headband of some sort. The standard athletic headbands are fine for running, hiking or playing ball but I can't fit one under my helmet. As I've mentioned, I've had luck with the headsweats band and, on cooler days, the pearl izumi ultrasensor headband.

There are also cheaper cycling specific headbands that I've used. Usually they have some company logo on them. Stay away from these. They're great for a few weeks but after about a month they stretch out in the wash. They look something like this:

I too like the halo until the plastic thing got hard and broke into several pieces, I think I will try a coolmax headsweat next time. All coolmax without the plastic thing.

The sweat gutter rig (gutr?) works well. I tried one, but there was not enough room for my glasses & the gutter between the tops of my ears & my helmet.

Note to self: got a new helmet, so dig that thing out & try it again.

I use some euro team issue headbands.. Nice and thick and they do not stretch out.. email the woman at the website to see what they have available.. avoid with all cost the underarmour headbands, good for about 5 rides and then they start stretching out..

I sweated like crazy too (in FL), and tried the Halo. It didn't work for me. It only made my head hotter so that I sweated more and it didn't keep it from going in to my eyes. You want my Halo? :p

That's a Gutr which is quite different than a Halo. Here is the Halo that I use.

I'd wear one of those if I needed to keep my head warm. In the summer I use a Halo band, that way I get air to the top of my head to keep it cool and keep the sweat evaporating. The band is just enough to keep the sweat from running down my face.

I'll have to check out the Gutr, because I sweat a lot. I'm also going to venture a guess and say that it probably helps us bald guys keep rain out of our eyes, too. That's my big issue in the fall/winter, is the rain dripping down off my head and into my eyes.

Under my helmet I find the skull cap seems to keep my head cooler...could just be my imagination and I have not had a long ride with it yet.

I use a regular Nike skull cap with good results.
