Southern California - Robert and Kevin, Will They Become BF'ers?

On our usual Sunday beach ride we ran into Robert. He did the last B2B ride with us after Drewski informed him of the forum rides. Ran into him again today at the beach stop. Started chattin' with us and our little group of usuals. Nacy made a quick stop but wasn't there long enough to snap a shot of him. Also did some talkin' with another guy we see there often, Kevin. I told him about the forums and that his pic will be posted here. I suggested that he join if only to learn more about riding. AND that he could find links to great deals on bike stuff here. Gina says that he mentioned a recent 70lb drop in weight. After some talk, we all headed back together as we were all headed the same direction. I snapped a few pics to wet their appetites to at least lurk on the forums. There is lots to be learned here for the newbie. Kevin riding for fitness and Robert, heck I don't know why he's riding but he's got a badazz 2008 Trek Madone!

Really all I told Kevin is that is that he might find riding partners if he likes. Also that he can learn plenty about cycling in OTHER forums. I asked today if he spins while riding. He didn't know what spinning is so I'm sure there is plenty he can learn in the right forums. Eating for rides, techniques, mechanics, you know, the stuff we assume everyone knows. Oh yeah, and riding single track!:p

So did you tell them about the 6 week indoctrination camp in the desert before they can become members?

Well, I took the plunge and went ahead and registered. I'm now under the handle mad_one52 (Madone 5.2).

The picts look great. Thanks Mr. Beanz! I didn't expect to run into anyone that day, but I'm glad I did. I had a great time on the trip back from the beach. Gina, Fred and Kevin, thanks for the ride. Let's do it again soon.

Now I'll get to experience all the BF has to offer. Looking forward to it.

I was confused about the GMR ride. I thought it was Sat but turns out it's on Sunday. That's Gina's only day to ride so we'll be on the trail instead.:D

Drew get rid of the competer and go with a computer. I told you sometimes the money you save isn't worth the loss in performance!:D

Ran into Kev and Robert on the trail again today. Turned out to be a windy 40 mile ride. Not many peeps out there. Saw Kev on the way but never got to HB. Wonder if he had mechanicals. Rode back partial way with Robert till Gina started suffering too much in the wind, so we backed off and watch the bird fly!:D

Palm trees at Imperial were blowing like crazy, Lincoln not so bad, but still a tailwind to the beach. On the return 15 while pushing hard. Saw Team Wheaties out there too. Looked up the wind on the AOL page when I got home. Said 5 MPH!:eek: Felt like 30.:o

After the ride, Gina still had creases on her forehead from the wind!:D

I rode throught Irvine today.
The wind was VERY strong at times.
The benefit is I had a tialwind coming back to the coast, and cruised at 24 for a good part.
Was great fun, compared to the 12-14 going inland...

I should have hit SART just to bug you guys....

Cruising at 24? Sounds fun. On the last stretch to the beach, we got to rolling with a couple of dudes, you know friendly competition. Gina hit 33mph with the tailwind. I think it's the CF bike!:D

That was fun and windy! Mr. Beanz, you forgot to tell everyone how you caught up to me just before Imperial and proceeded to drop me for the next 3 to 5 miles. Nice job! I just didn't have anything left at that point. What a workout. To bad Kevin didn't show-up. Thanks Gina and Fred for the awesome ride.

Nahh, I didn't drop you, I was pushin' you! You know, break in the new Madone!:D Good effort on the last stretch, I saw you crank it up a few notches! You were doing good when I caught you. I went by a few others that looked like they needed revivin'! Wind is FUN!:p

Gina really suffered. She continued to Imperial at her own pace after Lincoln. She was only one mile short. I asked if she wanted to go all the way but she had enough windy fun for the day!:o
