Just two weeks left to grind yourself into a delicious racing paste and bake it into a 60mile worthy cake. Who's ready for Iron Cross?

I'm not yet.

ok after checking out the site i am really starting to lean towards doing this. 5 hour finish time is brutal. especially on a singlespeed.

If you go, can we carpool? My teammate backed out due to familial obligations.

I'll do it singlespeed as well.

My plans got stiffled by the "house" committee. I did get a day pass to hit the c-ville race on that Sunday tho.
You all have fun.
Keep an eye out for Keith Bontrager. He's on the entry list.

I am registered, but I don't think I can make it.

I got the OK from the race organizer to do a transfer. if anyone would like to register through me instead of through the bikereg, drop me a line. I will knock some dollars off the price to make it worth your while. :)

Good luck to you all. I've been wanting to do this race but again this year it's too long of a drive for me. :(

Yeah, good luck to all of you. I'll be at a wedding on Saturday, but was convinced to race Urban Cross at Ix on Sunday.

Take pictures!

should i get a camelback for this race or will i not hate life carrying bottles in my jersey?

there's no real "feed area" or bike swapping on sunday. You can refill on drinks at the CPs but otherwise you're on your own. I'm taking one big bottle on the bike, location (st/dt) still tbd, and planning on chilly weather and pit stops to keep it full.

I didn't like carrying a full bottle in my jersey on sunday (went for an impromptu woods ride, no cages installed).

one bottle per stop will be good enough you think?

talked to a few of the masters racers this morning. They're going with camel backs; so no, now I don't think it will be good enough. Don't like to flip flop, but I think that a bladder system may be a wise idea.

Bonus: it'll make carrying easier too.

yeah i went and bought a camelback. Im going to be carrying my bike a lot since i ride single speed and a larger gear. Having bottles on my bike or jersey wouldnt make that any fun.

it took me 5 hours and 33 minutes to finish on my 42x17 single speed.

im not as sore as i thought i would be after the race yesterday. During the night I felt pretty bad and I woke up in the middle of the night really stiff but by the time I got up i felt pretty good. I actually felt good enough to play a round of golf.
