After much waiting I am finally putting the Great Lakes Jersey thread up. It only took a little over a year to do it. Many thanks to iab for finalizing the artwork and professionalizing it.

What: Jerseys and bibs - from Champion.
http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/2255/championproofjerseymy6.jpg
The circle around the great lakes graphic is actually made of bike chain - along with the lines framing the lettering on the front of the jersey.
http://img126.imageshack.us/img126/8415/championproofshortsgk2.jpg

What you see above are the actual proofs received from Champion

Price: $58 for Jersey
$72 for Bibs
$65 for shorts
$6 total for shipping if you are not close enough to pick it up.

How: PM me to receive paypal address. Then Paypal your total amount (example: 1 jersey and 1 bib short + shipping = $58 + $72 + $6 = $136 Example:1 jersey + shipping = $58 + $6 = $64) PM me for payment details. Pretty much exclusively Paypal.

When: PROOFS ARE IN - See above. Will only accept orders until 5pm Central 11/8/2007

I know nothing about their sizing. Please check other threads on this forum for info about sizing. Simply tell me cut and size (Male or Female, - Race, or Club and S,M,L,XL, etc).
Was pointed to this on BikeForums...

maybe i just cant see it, but where did you put "400w" ? thems just jokes :)

nice. now do i go race large or club medium. not a question, just thinking out load.

FYI for those wondering, the race cut of the BF SoCal jersey, which i think is also made by Champion is a tight fit for me (6'3'' 175 lbs). the arms are tight and the length runs a bit short for tall dudes. i did grow or shrink into this summer though and actually like the fit now.

later.

dude - i may only be going by little jepgs, but you're no club cut large.

I have a Champion Systems Large Race Cut jersey and it is quite snug and a bit short. I don't wear it much because of that. I have figured out that Race Cut is not meant for a slight paunch due to a love of things deep fried and and craft brewed, coupled with a lazy riding schedule, no matter how skinny the rest of me is.

I had another ChampSys jersey that was Large Club Cut and it was just about right for me. Hence, I'm pretty sure on this choice.

so what size should we put you down for? small/race cut, right? You're pretty much Bettini-esque, yeah?

I know the original post says no changes, but what if we put on an Assos logo? I think botto would be willing to pay substantially more than $58 + shipping for such a jersey!

Bibs/shorts are in the works. The art is done, but it needs to be updated to the latest version. So as of now I have nothing. I'll announce on here is I end up with them before this order is sent.

To order PM me for instructions.

I may be fairly new here, so please forgive me, but what's the significance to tractor up?

I may be fairly new here, so please forgive me, but what's the significance to tractor up?

When riding in a group, common etiquette calling out "car back" or "car up" to let everyone know what's happening.

When we ride among the corn and soybeans, it's not uncommon to have a big old John Deere tractor or combine ambling toward the group and taking up a lane and a half of the road..... hence we love to holler out, "TRACTOR UP!" It's more fun than a boring old "car up."

This one's not on the road, but it's wise to let them take the lane when they are, lest you get all combined up....

It's kind of a wink/knod acknowledgement that the Great Lakes area is a vast farmland. During rides we often encounter farm related traffic/machinery in the roads.

Occassionaly, in the interest of safety, most riders in this area have had to utter the phrase "Tractor Up" to warn others in the group that there is a large farm implement that is heading towards the group.

I find that funny every time I hear it.

Short version: It's like saying "Car up" or "Car Back", but because we all ride around a lot of farmland instead of cars we seem to encounter tractors.

Doing well with the ordering. It's all through PMs so that why there is not a lot of traffic on this thread. We are well over the minimums so far if you count all of the verbals. Actual pays is close to meeting the minimums.

I still haven't heard from a lot of the regulars yet....especially the WI guys. I know Hip is on vacation, but Crom, Frukin, FlyWolf, etc....:)

I will be giving preliminary counts to Champion early next week. You will still be able to order for the next week or so. I will post the date I plan to cut ordering when it is finalized.

I am usually so far back, I never here the "tractor up" anyway. The bad one is "tractor back".
Being passed by a tractor is pretty discouraging.

It's on the pocket underneath the tractor....;)

Race cut is a much tighter cut. Personally I can not wear a rae cut jersey.

not a joke, but real life. see here in the land of corn fields we dont ride up mountains, we yield to tractors.

BFNIC = Bike Forums Northern Illinois Chapter.

if i might say, the most prominent chapter in the great lakes.

Hey, when you're riding those gravel farm roads ... are you on 23mm tires, 25, or larger? I know you can ride 23's, but I don't even feel good about packed gravel bike paths on 'em.

23s. I have no problems or fears riding them in a lot of crappy conditions. I even have ridden them on roads that are large limestone aggregate roads. I just like doing that stuff.

BFNIC = Bike Forums Northern Illinois Chapter.

if i might say, the most prominent chapter in the great lakes.

This forum has chapters? Or is BFNIC the only chapter?

I guess when I ordered my jersey, I didn't know that it was sorta chapter-specific, but that really doesn't matter. I'll just have to think up something else that "BFNIC" stands for in case anyone around here asks me.

CyLowe97

Don't sweat the BFNIC reference. It's just good fun and how we identify when we're trying to put together a ride on the board for Chicagoland area.

You show up to ride, you're in the BFNIC. You yap at us on the forum, you're in the BFNIC. You let Psimet adjust your nipples halfway through a ride, you're in the BFNIC (even if you are from Wisconsin, right Hip? :) )

Plus, Psimet and iab took the initiative to put the design together and threw in some in-jokes. We've seen in the past that attempting re-designs by popular suggestion can be crazy, so we're rolling with what we've got.

Throw together an alternate Great Lakes jersey with a Detroit area reference and I'm sure we'd all want to get our hands on them. I've got one of the So-Cal jerseys (they have a few versions of that one) and I know there are two different Texas jerseys and two different Northern California jerseys. The more the better!

Psimet2001
10-17-07, 09:12 AM
The BFNIC is on there strictly because I made it. Kind of like having the "Champion" logo on it. As I explained to another on PM it is not "Chapter" specific. It is a Great Lakes Forum Jersey for Bike Forums. If you are on this forum this jersey is for you.

As for the long sleeved and vest. I think it is possible, but not sure if we would have to submit additional artwork. If we have to submit additional artwork they claim it will delay processing at least a few additional weeks. I would not like to do that right now.

BTW - comminucation with Champion sucks to put it mildly.

You still have time. Not sure when the final cutoff will be. It depends on Champion at this point.
