Hey,
What should I be eating and drinking on 50km+ rides?
Eat food, drink water and/or sports drinks and/or pop and/or fruit juice.
Basically ... it doesn't matter what you want to eat and drink as long as you keep it within these guidelines ...
Food: 250 calories per hour while you are cycling. Don't eat anything you're not used to. Don't go for anything too spicy or greasy.
Drink: about one 750 ml bottle every 1 to 1.5 hours. Most of that should be water, but you can supplement with sports drinks, soda-type beverages, or fruit juices.
Electrolytes: make sure you're getting some. These can come from pills, from your sports drinks and fruit juices, or from the food you eat.
