Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I don't own one but I've ridden a couple. They make (or at least used to make) a couple of hybrids and a few road bikes but they're main market is cheap MTB's.
A lot of the kids who hang around outside the supermarket/chip shop trying to look cool ride them because they're big and burly with lots of springs. Most of their lower priced bikes are over heavy 'downhill styled' bikes, but they make some quite reasonable hardtails (albeit with a big and burly look) further up their range and the odd trials bike.

I had a quick look on their site, and it looks like they make some pretty sturdy dual hardtails. Nice jumper/thrashers.

the componentry on most of the Saracens is rubbish... but the frames are good and is probably a good starter bike for sumone that is looking to do A LOT of upgrading

Yeah, I spotted that too. Are they a department store bike, or just a cheaper alternative available in bike shops?

Cheap UK based alternative for bikeshops. You can pick up the frames separately from many adverts in MBUK - around £70-100 for most of the alu hardtails, a little more for the magnesium model.
