Anybody out there using Schwalbe "Kojak" tires in the 26"x1.25" size, or any Schwalbe tire for that matter? I would like to know what you think of them...performance, durability etc? Thanks for the feedback.

Don't know if they were the "kojak" or not - but my buddy just got a new DaVinci with Schwalbe's on it and they wore to the cords in less than 400 miles. What he had looked like nice lightweight 26" racing tires and well.......
Were using Schwalbe Stelvio 26x1.1 Folding Bead nice lightweight hi pressure tire so far they have been great with low rolling resistance.
I had THREE Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700x28c's, apparently from at least two different production runs (logo changed) come apart where the rubber casing over the bead meets the rim. This happened on two different Velocity Dyad rims, and never over a couple of hundred miles on any of the tires. BAM! Two blow-outs and one deformation caught before the blowout.
Downright dangerous, and doubly so on a tandem. My LBS took them back, gave me credit, and was going to show them to their Schwalbe distributor.

I have a 26" mountain tandem and for road use I was using Schwalbe marathons in 1.4 size. No problems whaatsoever on grip or on wear but I changed to Continentals in 1.3 and noticed an increase in speed due to less drag.
Schwalbe Big Apple thoroughly reliable. No punctures in 6500kms tour. Back wore out after 3500km but fully loaded tandem with trailer. Confident on long down hills in the Alps. Would do it again.
