Euromesh seat pain

I recently purchased an SWB 'bent with a Euromesh seat. On rides longer than 25 miles, my rear end gets sore. The seat is reclined at around 40 degrees from vertical. I also have a V-Rex with a Rans mesh seat reclined at approximately the same angle, and have never had this problem. Does this ring a bell with anyone, and if so, how might it be remedied (other than replacing the seat with a different one). Other than this problem with the seat-induced butt pain, the new bike is great (Barcroft Virginia Ti).

+1 - some seats like the ER are meant to be used with lower seat angles. Most companies offer a different style seat for those who prefer to be more upright.

I agree about reclining the seat more. Also, is the mesh nice and tight? If it's too loose, maybe you are feeling the seat rails and not being supported by the mesh?

I've been borrowing a Corsa with a Euromesh seat for the past week. I did have slight recumbutt on the 73 miler I did, but no problems since. I think some of it is caused by the seat recline, and some of it is caused by unaccustomed muscles being used. Even at its most reclined position, it is much more upright than I'm used to on my Baron.

Last night's ride was done without the seat pad. I think the pad was soaking up a significant % of my pedaling power. Without the pad, the rails started digging into my shoulder blades after 15 miles, so maybe the Euromesh seat isn't for me.

I agree it's probably the recline. I had the same. I started reclining one setting at a time and riding a couple of weeks until I hit the magic spot that made everything feel comfortable.

Is it a new seat? If the pad is worn out, a Euromesh frame can cause a sore spot.

Thanks for the input. Actually, the seat is reclined as far back as is possible without having the Bachetta seatbag scrape the rear wheel. Like I had mentioned, its reclined angle is roughly the same as is that on my other bike which has a Rans mesh seat. The Rans seat causes no recumbutt at all. The Euromesh is a new seat that came with the new SWB bike recently purchased. If it is true that more recline is necessary, I will only be able to do that by removing the seatbag (or getting a different seat). Perhaps the relative narrowness of the Euromesh (as compared to the Rans) could be of issue?

Any chance you could post a pic of the bike with the ER so we can get a little more info?

I'll post a photo after my ride tomorrow - I put some velcro onto the seat to hold the sleeve of the bag about an inch higher. This allowed me to recline the seat another inch. I'll be doing a 75-miler tomorrow, so it will be obvious whether or not this has an effect. The Barcroft Virginia Ti is really a sweet bike, and if I can just get this seat issue solved, things will be very hunky dory.

Any chance you could post a pic of the bike with the ER so we can get a little more info?

F.Y.I. - Reclining the seat another inch did the trick! No recumbutt from my longish ride today. The velcroing of the seat bag up an inch allowed for the extra reline needed.
