I just got in from a ride. It was a good ride with a friend. It was good until a stoopid lady's 100 pound dog decided it would try to take my leg off. The area we were riding has a 100% all the time leash law and the dog was a good 1/8 mile in front of her. It comes tearing up on us and all I see is teeth, slober, hair standing up.....you know. She gets hold of the dog and tells us it wont bite........yeah right. I tell her to leash the dog and get ready to ride off and it gets away from her and I hear a snap. The thing missed my ankle by about an inch. I then told her in a not so nice way,"if that dog comes at me again you'll carry it out of here"! She gave me a eat crap and die look. I then proceeded to rip into her for a little while and rode off. Here's a hint for stupid people......If you are walking Cujo keep him on a frickin' leash! I feel much better......end rant.

I wholeheartedly agree. Was nearly sent flying a few weeks ago because of an unleashed dog.

wow, never had that happen to me before. Glad you're still alive.

Though, the image of little nice old ladies just disappeared from my head.

I have no problems with dogs but they should be in your control or on a leash. If they're prone to attack leave them at home.

Yeah, I actually got bit in the back of the Hammy.

She was a 60 y.o. lady (dog's owner, hehe) and there were 4 dogs. I almost ran over the little wiener dog as I left. It jumped outta the way. :) The dog that bit me was a mid sized mutt and the old fart said "Wow, she's never done that before"...yeah, she's never freakin' been smoked by an XLT with rider before either so...if you're gonna put her in a new surounding like "passing bikers", leash up Miss Daisy!

I ripped her for a while and left her with a look of alzheimer's on her face...pissed me off big time.

The next week, some stupid monster dog started wailing at my 4 y.o. daughter. He was on a leash, but I was about to undo my QR seat collar and post my freakin' Thomson layback through Cujo's forehead. My daughter would have never forgotten that, so I kept my composure.

Dogs piss me off too!!!

yea I got the **** scared out of me this weekend when I was out riding at a local trail. A pretty big dog approached me, however it was friendly :) then the owner came around the corner on his bike.

Dogs don't suck, idiot owners suck.

I'm a huge fan of dogs but I can't stand idiot owners that never take the time to properly train there dog. Not only do they not train there dog but then they also let it run free.

In the end its not really the dogs fault...they don't know any better...its the owners fault for being and ignorant jackass.

Gald to hear it didn't end worse for you 66!

I carry mace. I hate to do that, but I've been chased by several dogs in the farm areas where I live. I've never been bitten, but if I am, you can be assured, I will hire a lawyer and sue the SOB. I hate to go that route but thats all some of these dumb dog owners understand.

I love dogs (and cats) but I'm tellin' ya..............

Never had a dog prob. on the MTB, but road is WAAAY different. They come out of people's yards and do the chase down the prey thing. H2O bottle can be an effective deterrent but always. My girlfriend got her ass chewed on the road last summer. She called me w/the story and I was there pronto with a camera and a friggin' baseball bat. No dog or owner to be seen but owner's elderly mother was home. Exchanged the needed info. and went home, took photos of the injuries and went to physician to check out and get tetanus shot. My girlfriend only asked for $$ for Dr. and they paid it! Jeez, if it were me........well I'm not quite sure WHAT I'd do. But I really have no tolerance for this kind of crap! It's not the damn dog but the irresponsible owners..........

OK, my rant's done.

I love dogs and really havent had a problem with them on the trail but I can kinda get the picture of how they can be pains in the butt and probably will be if I encoutner a loose cannon dog. I think carrying mace is a good idea though. You never know when you could face a rabid animal, or child abducter, drug trade, aliens, illegal aliens, weapons dealing, killer birds, killer bees, army ants, and sasquatches (especially up in canada and alaska)

theres someone in my town who has a huge dog, grreat dane maybe or something, and they never pick up its crap! they just let it empty itself and then walk away, and i mean in the heart of town. no one wants to step in that crap. i think i should go out with my video camera and catch her in the act! ok, probably not to good of an idea.

and my neighbors have a dog. they wont tie him up because they say he'll choke himself. ya right, you should see how they treat him when he's bad, pick him up by the collar and he's almost fully off the ground. and unlike good dogs, it doesnt even know one thing, not even "no". id like someone to hit it sometime soon...

I like how this thread is called "Stupid people!"

I love dogs, but it's the owners I hate sometimes. Nice to see others share my sentiments :)

o, i just gonna throw this out there but...

when you pick out a dog, take the calm one that avoids you, ts easier to train and youll enjoy it more in the future. pick the one that jumps all over the window, and youll have your hands full.

I'm calling the Humane Society. No one, especially a dog, should be drinking Corona.

That's one reason I like living out in the sticks; there are easy solutions to unwelcomed, hostile dogs - - and they come in calibers from .22 to .30

This is why I carry pepper spray and yes I have sprayed out of control dogs before.

FYI: I am a dog owner, 2 shelties, and I keep control of mine.

Labs are great dogs. Mine has, oddly enough, a carrot addiction.

Oh, and yes, leash your damn dog.

LOL I had a black lab who loved green peppers, her name was pepper because of it.

I was out for a run with my girlfriend today on the local trails. Out from the middle of the woods comes a dog and its owner (who needed to be out for a run also). The dog starts running at us barking and wagging its tail then jumps up on me. If it would have jumped on my girlfriend it would have knocked here to the ground.

Then the lady comes over huffing and puffing and says that it only wants to play, while my heart is exploding from my chest.
