Hello all,
My name is Jane and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I have been cycling for many years but a new challenge spurred me on to look at cycling as a bigger part of my life.. Last year I rode the Bicycle Victoria's Great Western Australia Bike Ride and enjoyed it so much that I misses not riding regularly. My trusty old Giant Innova hybrid served me well on the ride but it was oh so heavy. Shortly after finishing the 2 week ride I decided that I wanted to ride faster and a new bike was needed. I bought a Giant OCR comp road bike and Melbourne was my oyster! I set a new goal of doing the Around the Bay in a day ride [210 kilometers] and so training and road experience was required. I trained with two audax training groups which allowed me to learn from experienced riders and ride at an challenging but achievable speed. One year and 3 months on, I have done the ATB, 100, 150, many 200s, 3 X300 and a 600km ride. My new goal is to get a super series in my first full year of Audax riding. In one year I have learnt many new skills including puncture repair, met hundreds of cyclist of all ages and increase my cardio and endurance fitness. AND I can ride faster! I look forward to reading your posts and gaining more knowledge about cycling in general. Any distance riders out there, I am interested in hearing about your adventures and tips!
