Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi everyone, I was riding 10 minutes ago, and I got some firt in my eye, it doesn't affect my vision, but I would still like to get it out without having to bother a doctor, I have about 30 minutes before I go riding again, can anyone help?

Flush it out with water.

Thanks MJ :) I will try it.
I've been hit in my sunglasses while out on the backroads either riding or commuting, I never go cycling without my sunglasses. Sometime though if it's real dusty, I can get stuff in my eyes too, like MJ says, you can flush it out with your water bottle although you might want to stop cycling first and do it on the side of the road... lest you ride right into oncoming traffic or something horrible like that!

I would just blink my eye fast and furiously and let the tears wash it out.
Not that glasses will keep everything out of your eye, but like a helmet I would never ride without them. I wa riding one day in Vermont and a collided with a june bug flying full force in my direction. It knocked the lens right out of my spectacles!
Just imagine what would have happened if I hadn't been wearing glasses.

Because I wear contact lenses, I always carry a small container of saline solution in my jersey pocket. Even if you don't wear contacts you might want to consider carrying saline solution in case you get something in your eye. (Note: it feels a lot nicer than tap water in your eye!)
Oh yeah, and always wear glasses while riding.
