That is one thing I think Jamis is pretty well known for...hefty. They're tough, but dadgum man! The top end BAM is 40lbs. The XAM's are up a couple lbs this year b/c they've gone to the 36 up front vs. the 32 and I think the frame is a lil' burlier than '07. Thank God they're 6" on both ends now.


The Parker is freakin' KEWL though. 2:1 ratio 4" out back with a Lyrik or Domain up front would be fun. I'd take her downtown.

jamis has come A LONG WAY in the last 5 years....the stopped selling thier bikes at Performance and almost went boutique on some of their stuff...they really have some nice stuff.

I actually recommended one to a (even more middle-aged than me) friend who was looking to ditch his old rigid for full suspension. And MBA was alway gushing about what a great value/bike the Dakars are so that's what I recommended he look at. Then, well, just try to find a Jamis dealer around Spokane. At the time, there were none. It's better now but they are still a bit few and far between.

Which 3?

1) Dragon (I use it for XC)
2) Nova (commuter)
3) Dakar XC (testing the FS waters)
4) Dakota XC (frame only. got a good deal on it)

Yah, D. There isn't a Jamis dealer in all of KS, but I got a super-schweet-stellar-wicked-mondo deal on my XLT frame so I decided to stick with it. Glad I did though...it's proven to suit me well.

It'd be even cooler if you'd put that Campy Chorus frt. der. on there instead of selling it. You know you want to. ;)

Hmmm, now there is a thought. I did do use a piece of campy record cable housing for the back section of the rear derailleur housing. It was the most flexible piece of solid cable I could find. Thought it may let eveything flex a little more smoothly. I'm hoping to finish it up this evening. All I have left to do is install the chain and adjust the derailleurs.
