We may be heading to Pleasanton in a few months and we're wondering if there are any nice places to ride in that area. Is it very close to wine country? Since we ride a lot in traffic here, it would be nice to find some nice open low-traffic rides with nice scenery, for a change.

Can anyone make any suggestions for rides in the area? We plan to take our bikes.

Might want to post in the Nor Cal forum for more suggestions. But ya can always do Mt Diablo, Mt Hamilton has less and less traffic the higher you go. There are some regulars in the nor cal forum that live in that area and may have better suggestions.

If you want wine country, you would have to drive a bit. Pleasanton is not within biking distance of Napa Valley or Sonoma County, which are two of the most popular wine country areas.

IIRC there are several wineries close to Livermore, but it is not Napa by any stretch of the imagination.
