Hey,

I have a Kona Blast 2006, Had it a while now, and was wondering what kind of stuff can I do on it, I know it's more of an XC bike, but I heard it was also suitable for other riding styles as they've beefed up the frame...

I want to do some small DH, I'm getting some Maxxis Minions and a chain device and bashguard, rekon it'll be Ok?

What's your definition of DH? If it's true DH riding, then the bike won't be very fun due to the steep geometry and lack of travel.

It's tough enough, but DH is really more of a long travel/rear suspension thing.

What do you mean "small DH"? Where are you planning on riding?

There is a "small" DH course at my local lift accessed hill...I wouldn't want to ride an XC hardtail down it.

I don't have a specific place in mind, obviously not something like Fort William or Whistler, I can't explain it, like Singletrack DH, just not huge air, more so technical, with some fast parts, I don't know if this is making sense to you...

Sounds like you mean you'll be trail riding...the bike will be fine.

BTW, the Canada Cup DH course in Fernie, BC, is mainly what I would call Singletrack DH. Up top there aren't a lot of big air opportunities (compared to closer to the bottom), but it is rough, rocky, and technical with some nice steep sections. You could creep along it on a HT but what fun would that be?

I guess everyone just has different definitions of riding DH.

I can't see your pic as it is blocked while I am at work but I'm not disrespecting...little people can ride big DH as well!
