Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

After much research, emails, and many articles I finally placed an order for a 1up CPR A-2000 Bicycle Trainer today ( http://www.1upusa.com/bike_trainer.html ). It should arrive tomorrow from what they said (1 state away). Anyone else that has a 1up have any recommendations or suggestions. I'm really psyched about this trainer and am looking forward to using it a ton this winter in the cold Chicago winters. I emailed a few different companies about supporting a super clydesdale like myself and they all seemed to think it would be an issue. Most said their products we're designed to handle tandems. This one looked like the best design and implementation and the warranty, can't say enough about that. Anyhow, I'll keep you all posted as to how I like it.
I bought one for Christmas last year. I like it a lot. That being said, I wish that I could get just a little more resistance out of it at a lower cadence. The first thing youíll probably have to do is move the bearings (comes with very simple instructions) to the heavier setting. Iím also willing to bet that you will have to remove the tension spring as well, (I had to). Itís a great trainer. You probably donít want to stand up and hammer much though. It seemed a little too flexible when I was heavier.
Do you have a heart rate monitor? I had GREAT success this past winter with Sally Edwards The Heart Rate Monitor Book for Outdoor and Indoor Cyclists: A Heart Zone Training Program.

Yea I've been training with a HRM for years. I have a polar with the strap that goes around the chest. I used to ride with it but when I got a wireless computer for my bike they would interfere. Since I won't be using that computer on the trainer and since I got the wired cadence computer with the 1up I should have no trouble using the heart rate monitor while I workout indoors. I'll have to check out that book, I've heard of it before but never saw it. Sounds like a borders trip is in order ... thanks.
