Oh, so that's what he mint.
OK, enough puns.
To the OP: What is the frame material? Where is the dent located? How deep and how big? More details are needed before anything but jokes can be provided.

Without seeing the dint, it's hard to tell how bad it is. For safety's sake You might not want to ride the bike before you can get someone from the bike shop to take a look at it.

OK, it can't be a regional thing because I grew up in the Canadian East and also lived in the West for nearly a decade. I completely understand a "dint" or a "ding" to be exactly as you described it.
OP; How big in this dint (in relation to the size of a coin, dime, penny, you know...)?
If it's on the downtube, partway between the BB and the head tube, it is most likely an MTB that got chuncked on a rock you didn't quite make it up (that's how I got most of mine ). Chances are the frame will eventually fail in that area. How thick are the walls of the tubing there? What frame (model, year) has this happen on? How has the frame been riding previously? There could be time but I'd start budgeting for a new frame.
This kind of information could help.

This sort of thing CAN be fixed ... most often by dint of one's own effort.
You're welcome.

I forgot this. Probably nothing will happen to the frame ever. It nobody u know can fill it with metal just put bondo to it and retouch it. Done. I have seen weird dings and dangs and dungs in road frames and many of them never failed where the tube was smashed by a rock or grabble. No experiences with MB frames but if the problem is 15 off the bb nothing should happen ever. I would bondo it, sand it and retouch it.
Thanks.
