It looks like I will be in Vegas (actually Henderson) this weekend and will have to miss my normal Saturday morning ride with the OCRR (ocrebels.com). Since I'm doing the MS 150 the following weekend I would still like to get in a ride this weekend. Are there any group rides for average roadies on Saturday morning I should check out? Suggestions for a route to take by myself?
Thanks!
Jim

Do you have a route sheet for the 75-miler? I'll be in Vegas Monday-Friday.

I don't have an exact route slip for this ride but I could get that for you if you prefer. This is a common ride we do. From Brooklyn Bagel on GV/Pebble we make our way over to Warm Springs and hit Boulder Highway. Typically take Boulder Highway to Sunrise Mtn. and connect to the North lake mead loop, dumping us out just inside the park entrance where cyclists can either do the south lake loop and that beautiful climb into Boulder City, or exit the park on Lake Mead and head back into Henderson (cutting about 30 miles off the ride). We have a decent sized group riding...all veteran cyclists with great skillz and superb attitudes! :-) Come on out and ride!! This is a fun, NO DROP ride! We do have a few who hammer through the climbs (ummmm....guilty) but we regroup often and have several water stops along the way!
But I must say that if I were not rolling with my GV homies...I would not miss rolling with my west-side homies and the bike poet in my heart - Asia Garrett!! Her ride will also be superb!!
I'll shoot you an email with my contact info. :)

Thanks Asia - I've never met you but I met your husband(? - anyway everyone ws asking him where you were) at Mt. Baldy Village earlier this year when we were riding GMR. I hope your group isn't all pro racers like him!
I don't know if I can get a hall pass long enough for the 75, but it sounds like fun. Is there time to refill water bottles at any regroups? or is a hydration pack recommended? You guys meet about a mile from the house I'll be in. It's at GV and Robindale.

Yes, there will be three water stops and regrouping on the climbs. Total elevation gain is about 4500 ft. for the ride. And if there are any pro racers that show up...they will be out to spin happy. We are shooting for fun on this one...not speed! Look forward to seeing you! :)

I'm not at all familiar with the LV area; so a detailed route description or route sheet would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!
We're leaving tomorrow afternoon for LV.

Thank you for inviting me to join your ride. I really enjoyed it. You guys have some really pretty areas to ride and that descent into Lake Mead was a blast. I'll bet that route is uncomfortably hot in the middle of summer though... I'm looking forward to the next time I get to Vegas. Thanks!!
