Close, but wrong. They are in the Geography Department. Most of them ride bikes, too.

Around here they're into marine biology, marine geology and some political and social sciences.

Thats why you become a physics major. Then you feel important in life. not really. But at least you can pretend your smart.

Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species.

That was drilled into my head in 1990 for HS biology class- I never forgot it.

I was a biology major for a while. Then I took a geology class and decided that I didn't really want to deal with things that excrete, rocks are way more fun. So I changed my major. In my geology dept, most of the students that straight-A right through the program are gals (I'm included in that).

However, Physics I & Calc II are kicking my butt right now.

There's so many different career options with a biology degree, depending on what you want to specialize in.

If you're a math geek, there's biostatistics and epidemiology and evolutionary biology (which is all population statistics)

You can go with microbiology and/or virology if you're into diagnostics and cellular level medicine. You can take that further with molecular/cellular bio if you're into chemistry.

There's veterinary, medical, and physical therapy/sports medicine if you're into the whole doctoring thing.

You can work in bioproduction and be a lab-tech on project that might cure a disease.
You can work in evil bioproduction and be a lab-tech on a project that might wipe out half the earth!

As a fallback, you can always go for an M. D. or some medical profession occupation with a biological background, even if its the guy who pumps up a patient's rectum with air before inserting the endoscope, making six digits a year. There is good money to be made in healthcare, and healthcare isn't going away or being outsourced anytime soon.

Thats why you become a physics major. Then you feel important in life. not really. But at least you can pretend your smart.
