Just a note:

I'm NOT a car! I'm not DRIVING a car!

I don't WANT to be treated like a car!

I want to be treated safely, with respect, and legally, but I DON'T want to be treated like a car!

I want to be treated as a cyclist. A cyclist who has as much right to use the road as any driver of any other vehicle. Bicycles offer many advantages over cars, not the least of which is to be able to use certain facilities that AREN'T available to cars... paths, parking, shortcuts, whatever.

I don't want to have to register my bike and hang a license plate of some kind on it. I don't want to have to pay for insurance on it. I don't want to have to be REQUIRED by law to ride in the center of a lane when there's plenty of room to the side.

I DON'T WANT TO BE A CAR! Cars suck!

Ok... now that that's out of the way, you can go back to your normal squabbles. :D

When bikes are outlawed only outlaws will have bikes.

*singing (BADLY)*

I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride
I'm wanted dead or alive
I'm a cowboy
Wanted dead or alive

Right about here I'd say "I'll give up my bike when they pry my cold dead fingers from around it", but since I ride year round that's a regular occurrence during the average NJ winter.

It loses something at that point.

Sorry bub but our roads and intersections were designed for use by both bikes and cars.

That is why a 4 way intersection is a 4 way intersection. When a bicyclists tries to make it a 5 way intersection by passing on the right or stopping against the curb they get crush by right turning vehicles.

Acting like a car is the only safe way to go.

Sometimes I take acting like a car all the way....I even make motor noises as I sit at a red light and pretend to peel out when I go.

Your right. I much prefer to be treated as the driver of a vehicle.

Please don't polish me or change my tires. Please don't pour gasoline down my mouth, please don't expect me to accelerate up to 45mph on flat ground. Thank you.
